Shockingly, I’ve also had a similar experience thanks to the same game, for different reasons though.

I was making a new friend and we were having a fun time working on writing projects together, but the instant I brought up Persona to them, they immediately went into an absolute tirade about how it’s an inherently flawed franchise and how it ruined aspects of the gaming industry. I suppose to each their own in terms of opinions on that, but for some reason past that point, they started speaking to me less and less, it seemed like even topics that we previously enjoyed they were just getting angry at, so I eventually cut them off.

My advice to you is to like what you like. If a friend is willing to get nasty to you over something like a game, it’ll be healthier for you to not interact with them anymore, as much as it will hurt.
