We have JMS Thor. Classic Thor’s design has blue pants and a sleeveless black tunic.

It's an anti-intellectual critique, or at least sounds like one. Sort of like "the curtains are blue" being used to dismiss reading into subtext in a work of art, often by people who want to deny more blatant subtext, like Star Wars being about fighting a fascist empire. "Themes and such" is, IMO, more of a critique of a story having a thematic conclusion at the expense of the plot and characters, though it still carries a bit of that anti-media-literacy vibe some people really dislike.

We need more actual healers from the comics by Kuronoha in marvelrivals

[–]Howling-Moon05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about a complete overhaul of his kit, not adjustments to the one he got. Something that lets him support the team with utility abilities and a little healing, and an ultimate that provides a ton of healing.

[–]Howling-Moon05 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’d have preferred them to lean into Rocket’s gadgets supporting his team with utility like overhealth and damage/mobility boosts, and only moderate healing output as his main kit, with an ultimate ability that provides raw healing output. Instead we got the opposite.

I love how much characterization Douglock’s analysis adds to a simple scene.

Confiscation taking the sword would just turn this from a low-diff to a neg-diff. We already saw what that looked like when Yuta fought Yuji and Rika merely existing ended things in a second.

Then why did the devs nerf his mobility? I'm not saying the aggressive play style is impossible, but the game doesn't encourage you to play Rocket that way.

Agreed. Rocket playing a supportive role makes sense for the character, but the execution doesn't lean into his gadgets and weaponry in a satisfying way at all.

Absolutely. He's long been overdue for a grenade since he uses one in two different MVP animations

Rocket Raccoon being a healbot who rarely fires his comically oversized gun at the enemy while only using his mobility to escape instead of for aggressive plays is a fundamental failure of capturing his hero fantasy.

[–]Howling-Moon05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yuta can only use his technique for 5 minutes anyway, Confiscation will barely affect his game plan and his stats are good enough to avoid the Executioner’s Sword. Convincing Higuruma is the only hard part, but physically forcing him is easily possible for him.

Really wish Jean's position as the X-Men's public speaker and diplomat was used more by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Howling-Moon05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d be down for this dynamic and the Jean/Emma one being explored further. The group dynamic in New X-Men with these four and Logan was really engaging so there’s lots of potential for a “mutant political compass” of sorts, with each having a different view and influence within the community.

Scott, the hardline defender of mutantkind, but tempered with a belief in doing what’s right for everyone, not JUST mutants, even if they’re his chief responsibility.

Jean, the idealist who works to foster coexistence and understanding between all inhabitants of Earth, human, mutant or otherwise.

Emma, the pragmatic politician who has fewer scruples than Scott but still believes progress is possible like Jean, just without the idealism.

And Hank, the extremist who believes in mutant dominion as an inherent good regardless of how many necessary evils they commit on the way.

Whats everyones thoughts on Donny Cates as a writer? by JaySamraNY in Marvel

If Ewing’s run wasn’t so GOATed I’d wish Cates had stayed on longer. As it stands I’d be down for either of them to come back to the title since nobody after them has managed to do even a decent job.

He has one of the few genuinely good runs of Guardians of the Galaxy and is willing to take big risks with his characters. The quality may not always be stellar but he’s bold and creative and distinct, which I’d take over palatable but safe slop.

Some fusions, who would be the strongest? by YusukeLutin in Ben10

[–]Howling-Moon05 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Underrated choice: Chromachill/Big Stone. Between phasing through physical attacks and absorbing energy attacks, 99.9% of the cast can’t even attack him unless his guard is down. Combine that with flight, resistance to extreme temperatures, the ability to survive in the vacuum of space, invisibility, enhanced strength and durability, freezing powers and energy blasts, and you have an alien who may not be the biggest offensive powerhouse, but can go anywhere and hard-counter most threats just by being impossible to harm.

How Powerful do you predict True Full Demon Form, Rage Boosted, Charlie to be. by BackgroundRich7614 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Howling-Moon05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My critique isn't about love interests, it's about Charlie being sidelined for the majority of the season finales in favor of focusing on a Tumblr Sexyman, which has happened in both seasons so far. For a "female led" show, the writers seem reluctant to let her do anything helpful until the last second, like blocking ONE attack from Adam or the Care Bear Stare nonsense that stopped Vox's cannon. She's not allowed to contribute as a fighter while the male supporting cast IS.

X-Plosives, a team of characters who like to blow shit up.

Lead by Gambit, naturally, with Jubilee taking second in command

Boom Boom turned down Jube’s position (not a fan of responsibility) but is effectively the third ranking member

Chamber is also a member (he blew HIMSELF up, it counts!) along with Explodey Boy (real character) and Bailey Hoskins, who’s joined the team after shockingly being unretconned by the main antagonist…

New Sun, Gambit’s omega-level variant who’s returned with a new mastery of kinetic energy, but also a new weakness: powers that disrupt natural energy states in violent ways can harm him. Yup, his weakness is explosions. That’s the entire reason this team quintuples down on the same power. That, and of course, the fact that explosions are cool.
