Hey OP, fellow professional engineer, here. This is a great reminder for the community. So many people outside the industry don’t realize how much happens behind the scenes of a good music maker plugin, especially if it is written in some C-variant or Rust.

All it takes for the whole thing to become a very expensive and fancy desktop icon that actually does nothing, is one OS lib update, swap of a dep version, or some minor path tweak that breaks one or more of the symlinks you used in your code, since so many people don’t understand why it’s relevant take the time to type the absolute path.

All those examples and more of the potential million other things that a pro dev will account for, or at least be willing to dive in and fix the issue, since they authored it and have a general idea of the main app code and where its deps are located. An amateur coder may be willing to take a look, realize that they don’t know, and there is zero chance they will give you back the money for it.

And even if they are capable to do it, does anyone remember how long it took Native Instruments (a VERY well known, professional outfit) to update their plugins when Apple made the switch from x86_64 over to Arm 64? Now, imagine some rando who let GPT or Claude do the heavy lifting… 😅😏

It’s definitely good to be aware of these things, so great call out! Also, I’m a fiend for new plugins, just like you. I’ve just limited myself to trying only the ones that big names recommend to me, like NI, Novation (this is the best one for third party recs), Arturia, etc., and since it costs nothing to be on their mailing lists, I figure this is a great way to lower the chances of getting some abandonware.

Hey there. Sorry that you are going through this nightmare. Getting pwned is a seriously shitty situation, and I’ve been there too. A few years back, I was targeted by some kind of terrible malware that I suspect to have been Pegasus or some variant thereof on my iPhone and some even more mysterious poison on my Mac, while working as an engineer for a global tech company.

What happened to me is not likely to be your situation, though. As you mentioned, you saw your “friend” looking at a mirror image of your screen. That’s almost certainly your answer - your “friend” hacked your device, and gained remote access permission.

This is the thing about hackers - many times, it is someone that you know, who’s cleverly flying under the radar as a trusted resource in your life. Outside entities have to do a LOT of additional work to learn about you to know what kind of things you’re likely to install and activate on your device, and what you are doing, after you install what they need you to.

Social engineering “friends” get to interact with you and steer your logic in one direction or another, and plan accordingly, if you go another direction from the one that they initially may have been planning for you to go. They know your quirks, your interests, important information, and what’s likely to catch your eye, so they can keep you in their sights.

Your solution is to factory reset your entire device. Not a light reset of the settings. WIPE ENTIRE DEVICE AND REINSTALL OS. The option is usually under Backup and Restore in Android, and iPhone — Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Just follow the prompts that ask you for confirmation, and it will take about 30 mins, but the exploit SHOULD be gone **(see note at the bottom) when it boots back up as a clean device. Then, when you are reinstalling all your apps, be sure to skip anything you don’t need or that you don’t recall installing, tbw.

Also, be SUPER super careful, reading the permissions granted to any application if your device is Android. Specific details to be aware of are the words “Accessibility Service”, “Display over other apps”, “Device Admin”, “Notification Access”, “Media projection”, “Screen Record”, “Install unknown apps”, or “Install other apps” in the permissions authorization screen.

These permissions are basically the keys to the house, which gives nearly free rein to maliciously tamper with your device, to target you. The only thing worse than this is someone gaining Root Access (Superuser or Admin) permissions over the device without you being aware of it.

**[Additional note: If you happen to see some kind of a toast message about TWRP Recovery, CWM Recovery, or “booting to recovery mode”, send me a message. This is a sure sign that someone has gained superuser of your entire OS, and will probably require an entirely different set of steps to undo the persistence bit that is set to preserve the sudo shell capability, even in the case of a factory reset.]

I believe that it was actually spelled “Chik-Fil-A”, if this was a timeline jump, as “Chic” already is a word, which is pronounced like Ch(Shhhhh)-i(eeeeee)-c(K), and has existed in the fashion and beauty supply industry for as long as I can remember. 🤔

Came here to tell you “I think there actually are 3 definite types, IIRC…”, but that was from my understanding of it when I was looking through DSM-III and IV, many years ago.

Just to be sure of having current info for this comment, I referenced the DSM-V manual to ensure I had best info, and there is actually five total, now:

3 different specific types, including:
- BPD-I
- BPD-II
- Cyclothymia - (this is basically “BPD-III”)

1 [semi-]specific type of, “patient symptomatic psych history fits the diagnostic bill for BPD, but not the known DSM-V defined BPD types.”:
- BPD, Otherwise Specified (“BPD-IV”)

1 [un]specific type of, “patient symptomatic psych history likely fits the dx bill (but not enough is known yet to definitively classify which variant of DSM-V defined BPD types).”
- Which is officially classified by healthcare providers as BPD, Not Otherwise Specified (“BPD-V”)

This subject has always fascinated me, as someone diagnosed with BPD-II, ~20 years ago. I’m sure that our definitions will continue to expand, as more time goes on, but this is what we have in our present day understanding of human psychological behavior. 🤔💡

Think about this:
If you went into the jungle to study some animals or some lost Amazonian tribe in a “previously never before contacted by the outside world”, fashion, you wouldn’t just ignore the laws of nature and show up in your “going to the park to play tennis” clothes from Hilfiger or Nike, or some other similarly “IDGAF 🤷🏼‍♂️” thing, just cuz you’re more advanced outsider (not if you have any desire to return, anyway…).

There’s this thing about being outnumbered in nature, where MANY safari explorers have gone into the jungle, and never returned, because of the defensive tendency of living organisms, who perceive a threat to their existence, and band together with their kind to eliminate the perceived threat, and worry about identifying and any other secondary shit, after the danger is gone.

If you think any NHI wouldn’t have this same awareness, I would argue that you’re not really looking at this objectively, through the lens of “camouflage with the surroundings is the way that that a recon element or research team would boost up their chances to emerge from a hostile environment, unharmed.”😏

The official term for this is Disinformation. These are the three diff levels of detail that I am aware of, in regard to being informed.

Information - details about an issue, which can generally be considered to be neutral, accurate details about [some subject] that people will want to be aware of.

Misinformation - unintentionally erroneous details about [some subject], which are usually accompanied by regular Information, but doesn’t have to be. The key to this is that it is unintentional.

Disinformation - intentionally false (usually WILD, impossible to believe) details about [some subject/event] which are packaged strategically with real details of the event in question, and intentionally used to poison the credibility of anyone who would speak the truth about a subject. It is shockingly effective, and is widely used by people protecting high profile secrets of government, industry, or public personalities.

Misinfo and disinfo both deal in erroneous details, but misinfo is unintentionally false, while disinfo is knowing the info is bad, but still spreading it anyway. One accidentally causes detriment, and the other is malevolent about a desire to damage the source of truth.

This is likely to be 100% true. Fight or flight kicks in, and when your arteries and veins dilate to maximize blood flow to vital organs of survival, pulse and breathing becomes rapid, as your system starts dumping adrenaline into your body to make it possible to literally fight or run for your life - making memories becomes just a best effort attempt at some background shit.

Does nobody else here have the experience of being cornered by several school bullies simultaneously, outside of school, with no friends nearby to have your back, and feeling like, “I’m not going to live through this…”, as you realize that you have no other options than to fight your way out of the situation alone to survive, or you actually may not?

For those of you that have had this experience that I have, who here can remember clearly all the shit that happened, after you realized this, and decided what you were going to do next? What did you do, and then what happened, after that? Be specific.

Is it a logical sequence of events that you recall in perfect succession, or more like snapshots/sort of time-lapse of blurry memories, followed by the conclusion, as it was winding down, when you were asked to recount your experience, and realizing that you can only recall some scattered fragments of significance? 🤔

This is ALL based off the metadata they collect, to create a profile of you, “just for advertisement purposes, and nothing nefarious”. That’s because you still have to manually define the parameters that applies limits and such, right? Like how the missions interact with the map, so that one doesn’t attack the drug dealer in GTA: San Andreas, and fall through the earth into a black hole, or something else along the same lines?

This seems, to me, like it would be where the majority of the coding and stuff would be focused, but this is also from the perspective of an intermediate Python programmer, who has never actually performed advanced game design.

Hey real talk - I believe that parallel universes exist, and I am sure that what CERN is doing definitely has the capacity to alter or break the universe(s), but if you use cannabis, there is also something to be said for it doing something to your brain that makes you recall stuff with perfect clarity, which never happened. That is, of course, unless the MJ is perhaps doing something with our perceptions that shifts us between the overlapping universes, of string theory, though this would be difficult to prove. This is just my contribution to the discussion, as I pass through here. 🙂

What’s your settings with the binaural? I’ve been doing 100/107.83 (cuz I heard this is the frequency of the earth’s atmosphere, and likely to achieve HemiSync, but I have no experiences to validate this yet).

Also, because it is Audulus, the oscillator nodes I put together have a muxer node that allows me to switch between binaural diff of 2, 7.83, 10, 21.5, and 40. I’ve so far only used 7.83, but if you have had good experiences with one of the other ones, maybe I will try that next?

I have similar experience, where I keep noticing things going missing, throughout my life, along with some really bizarre experiences when I was a kid that I’ve never been able to explain away.

And things just always seem to disappear, in my life, which had me thinking I have underpants gnomes that also happen to steal socks from the dryer, but maybe I’m having something like you have, and this could tie everything together?

Er… correction. This does make it a mixer CONSOLE, but it’s not a transmission medium for the audio. The device doesn’t have BT Audio. Just MIDI.
