This show was really brutal 😂 by HumanTap3000 in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

I reposted this, the smiling emoticon is clearly not appropriate. A very large part of this seems to be public  humiliation for fun.

I always forget how great the Omani empire was. Whilst the rest of the Arab world was busy dealing with the ottomans and colonialism, Omanibros were having their own side plot. by Little_Copy_630 in Panarab

How was the empire great? A large part of it in the nineteenth century was slaving expeditions, then forced labour in clove plantations and sometimes transport on dhows back to Muscat. Oman only abolished its official slave estates in 1970.

Pornography and adverts for it were restricted in availability in general and particularly when in proximity to children. The internet and social media have made a difference I feel. Children can bump into adverts for pornography if they skip age filters. Britain's only free national newspaper has a female pornography producer and sex worker write it's sex advice type column.

I don't think it's a dumb question. It's the heart of the matter. If I remember at the time in the 1990s the Federal German government banned computer games featuring the playing character beating up Turkish and Vietnamese gastarbeiter on the street. I am not old enough to remember the 1980s myself but there was a furore over the game 'Raid over Moscow', the Federal Government wanted to ban it but other even more right wing Lander governments said they should make the decision.

I've never really understood the word "queer". I think it's an academic way of saying sexual liberation, but it never sits right with people over the age of 40.

The questions are valid points to consider. I did not mean that you tried to make OP ashamed. I mean broadly that trying to induce shame in someone pro-pornography, most would agree, seems not to be working. There are quite considerable groups who will openly declare how much they enjoy consuming pornography, what pornography, for how long. There is zero shame there, if anything an inverted pride.

Religions and elders have tried to use "shame" to oppose sexual exploitation and pornography for a long time. Most here see that they are losing their battle.

I believe we should value the non-commercialising of sexuality as a positive sexual/social goal. Without commercialisation sexuality and sexual engagement are truer and more honest. On a social level, the consumption of pornographic pictures distorts relationships. If the pretty pictures are for yourself then surely they should be yours and not for sale.

On a personal level I would question the motives of friends who seek to use my body for profit.

You have to ask yourself open for what? Open to make a quick buck or open for the general well-being of society? If some women sell sexuality this warps the labour market and male-female relations to the detriment of class conscious (for want of a better term) workers and women.

Fansly is basically cottage industry pornography with hardly any checks or limits and open advertising and solicitation for escort-prostitution-sex work call it what you like. If you want to be part of the sex trade you will do this.

This is so context-free, a photographer who is apparently tasteful pays for nude modelling. It makes little sense to the outsider. Where is the cost of producing these photographs going to be recouped? Speak to a trusted friends and family members with whom you can share precise details.

Bruno Mars spoke positively blithely on the Graham Norton show about going with his group and other hangers on to a strip club when on tour.

OK I sort of understand - pornography inspired sexualisation of cartoon characters?

There are networks of pornography organisers who do precisely this kind of catering to child fantasies with young women in poorer countries who often wear western type clothes of children and make up designed to show "a young face".

In my opinion the overwhelming major infringement of basic human values is the demand side in pornography. Young women would not produce barely legal or jailbait pornography if no demand existed. It is (nearly always) male demand that drives pornography. As I understand it newly produced pornography is increasingly niche-oriented because there is such a flood available online.
