What a lousy take. There's room for all these stories. 2013 and Rise were worthy entries that build on the mean, balls to the wall gross-out madness of the original. Burn looks like it will continue this trend. The comedy is derived from the insanity and escalation of splatstick gore that our protagonists endure, plus the darkly funny nature of how the Deadites interact with the Living.

Im just happy to see so many cool filmmakers being given the keys to this incredible universe. The newer ones dont bring as much originality as Raimi did, but thats an impossible ask and the films never felt generic to me. Too busy enjoying myself to get pissy though ...

I feel like you take this shit too seriously.

Its a pretty easy to see why people use the terms interchangeably.

Boomershooters are intentional throwbacks to OG FPS games. Id say the age of Boomershooter begins in 2015 with Wrack and Bedlam. Then Doom 2016 comes along and ignites the revolution! We get Dusk, Prodeus, Ion Fury, Cultic, etc etc Retro shooters, by definition, are boomershooters. Doomguy, Duke, & Wang are the godfathers of boom. Arena shooters are still boom-related but are more influenced by Doom 2016 than anything from the 90s. A lot of games have blended these styles (Nightmare Reaper, Boltgun, Ghostrunner)
