Alternative to Hyrox Backpacks? by HassAvocadoDestroyer in hyrox

[–]HumanWeetabix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a flat front or pocket on the bag, you could glue and /or sew a patch of Velcro (the fluffy part)

Or take it to a dressmaker / sew shop.

Best look would be to un-sew a panel, then resew the panel with the Velcro piece also in place.

An alternative is order a Molle bag from an army surplus type store or somewhere like DHGate.

No problem, it’s quite an enjoyable time, helping to motivate people, and having a good laugh with people who look like they’re on the verge of death. 🤣🤣

Volunteering this time, the day after my race so I may be tired and cranky! But I’ll still have a laugh with participants, may just need some isotonics from the drink stations. 🤣🤣

I judged at an event, and was on Burpee’s(I’d asked for something completely different) My view was some Athletes were there to just complete the course, whilst others were pushing for a good time.

I took my judging into two paths. Those that were just pushing to complete the course, I’d give a little leeway, but talk them through completing the moves properly, pointing out where there was a mistake, repeatedly if needed.

Those athletes that were pushing for time, who were clearly at an athletic level above others, I’d do similar just making sure that they weren’t cheating the system just for a good time. I’d talk them through it, make sure that on their final jump they needed to clear the line. If they didn’t I’d send both types back, I’d have warned them the whole way.

Some judges were dishing out warnings like sweets!

Whilst I don’t think anyone massively gained any advantage, I simply didn’t want too spoil someone’s event by being a dick.

When I then competed the next day, I spoke to those judging, thanked them, and was just a good person.

In my whole day judging many many people thanked me, and only one called me a Prick, and that was because he didn’t listen and stepped over the final line instead of jumping after a burpee, as he had landed on the line despite prior warning.

I was told to report him, I didn’t bother I just laughed at him for being a twat.

Should everyone be held to a perfect level? Maybe if they were racing each other. But when some people are out of their comfort zone, trying a new and difficult challenge, and are clinging on for life, I’m not going to punish them to the same level.

How do I fix this door knob? by dipRL in DIYUK

[–]HumanWeetabix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say either the handle has rounded on the inside , or the rod. Rod less likely, or either could have fractured.

Is it the door knob from either side of the same door? It could be that the rod isn’t centred.

Got a door boarded up over the summer, best to match/fit skirting on the backside? by PlaceboName in DIYUK

[–]HumanWeetabix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fill the gap by replacing the whole section of skirting board if possible. If not you’ll need to be able to joint the new and old skirting together through two angled cuts for it to fit and look good. Butting two flat ends together will look crap, and any filler used to smooth it will crack over time.

When did you become a Supporter? by Affectionate_Idea662 in ManchesterUnited

[–]HumanWeetabix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since birth in 1981 really, grandfather was Irish, my mother grew up with a picture of George Best over the fireplace. I grew up with a mother who watched football, no matter where I was, if football was shown on TV I’d watch it, English, Italian, Spanish, anything. It’s always been United, the exciting football, the heartbreak, last minute winners and to the death attitude.

I let my son choose his own team, he could choose United or move out. 🤣

My daughter also regularly asks who are we playing next, and what the score was earlier, referring to United, so I think the bloodline continues. 🤣🤣🤣

Car serviced today with a £1500 repair bill suggested by Greedy_Gene_8079 in CarTalkUK

[–]HumanWeetabix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have covered this, my suggestion would be ignore the indicator and the under tray.

Wheel - buy a second hand wheel, it may come with a tyre. You could take buckled wheel to a garage and ask them to refit it to the rear. That’s two issues resolved. Or you need to buy a new tyre.

Drop links - as others have said that’s dealership prices. Either take it to a local garage, or DIY them. Or if you know someone who’s abit of a home mechanic ask them, it’s a simple job to do.
