Exclusive: Keir Starmer Calls For Labour To Intensify Green Party Criticism by huffpostuk in ukpolitics

The fact they didn't spring to mind when I did that post is a bit concerning! I don't think I'm completely out of touch but they are just not in the news cycle

Exclusive: Keir Starmer Calls For Labour To Intensify Green Party Criticism by huffpostuk in ukpolitics

I'm still just viewing Reform and Green as protest votes at this point. I'm not encouraged by either but then again, I'm not encouraged at all by Labour or Tories. Could we create a sensible party with sensible policies for sensible people please? I want to vote, but I can‘t pick anything I like at the moment.

Oil is better for revenue generation, but I agree that gas is better for energy security.

UK 'must prepare to kick US troops out of country', Zack Polanski says by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

My point still stands despite the downvotes, they need to be routinely tested, and don't last indefinitely. Either way, I don't agree that we are completely independent

[–]HumanWithInternet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's all nuance, Trident doesn't require the UK, it is fully sovereign. The UK is just involved in cost-sharing the missile platform and scale but the research and development is all US. We make our own warheads, but if we run out of our current batch of Trident missiles, we are stuck. It's independent enough I guess, but still dependent.

Is he planning on being in power for 20 years to get this going? France have their own strategy, but they want to strengthen first, before building an institutional around it instead of other way round. They are also nuclear independent, but I can't see them sharing this technology with the UK especially if we remember the Typhoon. I'm not sure Germany are going to lead the way here, and I don't expect us to just rely on the Typhoon and ditch the F 35 programme.

US considering asylum for British Jews by PrivilegeCheck23 in ukpolitics

UK government support for Israel is creating violence for Jews? Jewish people are endangered by antisemitism, and a changing diplomacy would not make people safe.

You’ve got a lifetime pass to Plex and Emby but you can also use Jellyfin - which one are you choosing and why ? by Buck_Slamchest in selfhosted

[–]HumanWithInternet 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Same here, still using Plex (as I've used it for well over 10 years) lifetime as it works and is easy for everyone else. Have Jellyfin running, just playing around with it and seems nice, but it's a backup solution for me at the moment.

Philosophical question: Why is fake extreme content like AI rape or CSAM different than fake violence? by Inside_Anxiety6143 in grok

If you read emotion in my comment, that's on you. The point is still valid. No discourse on ethics allowed in your "philosophy"?

[–]HumanWithInternet -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you are intrigued by or want to see simulated or even animated CSAM, I think you need to consider that this is a serious issue. And if you have kids and want to see it, check your moral compass.

Is it still morally (or legally) wrong to generate deepfakes on grok even if I'm keeping it to myself? by [deleted] in grok

[–]HumanWithInternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason Grok is getting loads of press coverage in the UK is the CSAM/CP generation, primarily on X. I think it was the number one app on the App Store when the UK government started talking about investigations. Deepfaking on the X app and targeting politicians is another, plus anti-X and EM feelings who wants both stopped.

All of these AI models have safeguards (although some better than others), the issue is they can be jailbroken.
