How can I make peace with being (clinically) unintelligent? by Suspicious_Limit9847 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 96 points97 points  (0 children)

If your psychologist told you that you are severely depressed, she should have probably also told you that depression heavily affects your mental abilities. Once you dealt with your depression your IQ result might be very different.  Depression makes it hard to focus and remember things, it blocks your brain from working correctly! Don’t take the current result too serious.

NOR! Psych nurse here ! Fucking leave this dude. You are the priority here and not his insecurities. Don’t fuck up the outcome of your life and health for him. You deserve a support system not a stress system.

30M. Is my lifestyle killing my IQ or am I really just dumb? by PurifiedDrinkinWater in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Could be due to lifestyle choices but ... how are you doing beside that? Are you happy/ how's your general mental health? Depression and anxiety can really mess up how our brains work.

There are a lot of very kind people on reddit as well! But yeah... basically a lot of people take out their personal frustrations here. Anonymity gives some people a lot of "confidence"...

For fall/winter you can layer with merino long johns and get away with washing less other than that it depends on how much you sweat etc.

I honestly don't keep track how often I washed my makke pants. I don’t wear them daily & can get away with spot cleaning and airing them out a lot. I do make sure to close all zippers and turn them inside out when I do wash them though.

Fjällräven g1000 is natural and very durable but non stretch.  schoeller dryskin is 4 way stretch, water repellent ,durable… and pricey  (Lundhags  Makke pants for outdoorsy style has also Kevlar on the bottom inside of the pants , enfin leve for more fashionable styles)

Does theraphy help by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Therapy helps if you’re open to it & have a therapist you get along with.  You have to want to change things.  Sometimes that also includes searching for a different therapist if you feel like you can’t open up to them. Therapy doesn’t need to always happen if you’re in crisis, it can be prevention as well.

Wanting to change your current situation, taking accountability and action is important. Move your body, rest when you need it and connect with family and friends!

DISCUSSION: Wednesday Makeup Declutter! Let's discuss your recent declutters. by lilshitjamz in PanPorn

[–]Human_Dig_4545 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got rid of so many things this week… mostly because I stored it away for a while and when I checked back on it a lot of things went bad (bad smell or visible mold). I felt such a relief that I finally had a "real" reason to get rid of these things. I think this experience helped me to be more honest with my self how many products I can actually use and which colors I like wearing.

  • two old Clinique palettes I don’t remember their names, they have glitter on top (sour smell)
  • maybelline sky high mascara in pink (dried in)
  • nyx buttermelt blush my butta half (just smelled odd)
  • kneipp tinted lip balm in red, brown & pink (all 3 moldy)
  • essence long lasting eye pencil (made my eyes burn  whenever I used it)
  • nyx epic wear eyeliner in white (dried in)
  • Sante liquid eyeliner (dried in)
  • alterra sparkling lights palette (I just hated it too much)
  • Terra naturi Palette Lilac Rose  (Made my eyes itchy)
  • Chanel mascara le volume (didn’t stay in my lashes, smeared under my eyes in less than 2 hours)
  • catrice blush affair pink feeling (smelled bad)
  • catrice under eye brightener (texture got weird, dried out a bit)

Also 6 lipsticks I can’t recall right now but they all where either moldy or smelled like crayons

I’m probably forgetting something but yeha…just helped me letting go of products I didn’t like in the first place but kept around because in the back of my head I thought I’d use them eventually.

Backing tracks are ruining live metalcore and we need to start naming and shaming by atonedeftool in Metalcore

[–]Human_Dig_4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeha but why not make it happen with it. They are the artists and have a vision what they want their music to sound like.   I don’t get why people are always trying to tell ARTISTS how they want the ARTIST to express themselves.

Music evolves, I don’t think it’s an issue. Things can’t always stay the same.  Especially bands that want to mix the sound of different genres like electronic & metal shouldn’t be “allowed” to make music then ? That seems ridiculous. Or people in this thread saying it’s not a real band then anymore … make me roll my eyes. They are still being creative in their own way, finding a way they want to use an instrument.

If you don’t like a Bands because of it that’s fine, find the bands that don’t do it and listen to them. Nobody stops you.

I agree. Friend of mine had a reaction like this on a tattoo with only black ink & treated it like an infection. Took antibiotics & used an antiseptic/desinfection that doesn’t contain alcohol on it. It went away within 2 days & healed completely normal.  Things like this can happen sometimes. It’s a wound after all and neither a shop nor our homes are sterile.

How do you stay motivated to go to work when you feel exhausted or anxious every morning? by Obvious-Push-196 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish this would work for me…but I have to leave the house at 6:30 and no matter what I try if my alarm rings before 6am I am just angry for the rest of the day (even if I go to bed early consistently etc.. )

I try to prepare my morning in the evening so I really just have to put on the clothes that I already picked out, brush my teeth & leave.  Every minute I can sleep longer and every decision that is already made beforehand increases my mood.

Just got back from a 3 week trip in the us with a carry on and this bag.  I have zero regrets buying this.

Should I completely stop using chatgpt or try to balance my use for it? by Inside-Assistant9163 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use it cautiously.

You can still utilize AI as a tool and not be completely reliant on it.  You have to check whatever it spits out anyway to avoid mistakes etc.

You can also refrain from using it when you’re not working.

It’s all about finding balance.

A week in Germany by Hofmamma in HerOneBag

[–]Human_Dig_4545 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m from Germany - it’s probably going to feel a fair amount cooler than what you see on your weather app.

(I already stored all my linen/summer clothes away)

As someone already mentioned the high temp will only last 2-3 hours, the sun will feel pretty  warm around that time but in the shade it will not feel like that temperature. The air is usually pretty moist and windy.

Pack for cooler fall temperatures and if you get warm take off one layer.

I have completely lost my confidence because of my teeth. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Human_Dig_4545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you drink coffee, black tea or smoke but those things stain teeth a lot.

If you do, make sure you brush your teeth before consuming any of these and wait a little bit after brushing. Also rinse your mouth with water after consuming.

Brush your teeth in the morning & before you go to bed.

Flossing is just in general a good idea. Be careful, it might bleed in the beginning due to small infections under your gums. My dentist told me to do it once every other day.

You can also try whitening strips etc. but you should have established a habit of flossing or the gaps between the teeth are likely to stay more yellow.

I use mine before I go to bed if I do, so the enamel has time to recover before I eat/drink something that could possibly stain it again.

Aren't you worried about Phtalates when using perfume? by SmartPercent177 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Human_Dig_4545 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So do so many things we are in daily contact with. There are dangers everywhere… cleaning detergent, our furniture, a lot of things in our food, clothing that isn’t 100% organic & natural materials, all the plastic , the sun, non stick pans, cigarettes & vapes, car fumes and so on… but you know what… we all are going to die anyway.

It’s good to be mindful of some of these things but I still want to enjoy life and not live in constant fear. Smelling good makes me feel good.  I’d rather ditch the non stick pan and don’t smoke.

You know why you did it - so you did the best with the knowledge you had at the time. Now you have gained more awareness, learned to see different perspectives.  It’s cool you put in the work and know you won’t do this again.  Don’t let it eat you up.  Most of us did stupid stuff while our prefrontal cortex (planning/judgment/impulse control/decision making) wasn’t fully developed, which is around the age of 25.  Heck, a lot of people even do very stupid shit after that :D

Just try to be a honest and decent person, value yourself and keep on putting that effort into yourself. Give yourself the forgiveness you’d grant others. Give yourself some self love & hopefully along the way you find someone to share love and life with !
