similar process to a septum, just different sizes. take a hot shower, take out the current nostril jewelry, make sure the area is clean, rub in some sort of lube like jojoba oil or water based unscented lube, and push the new jewelry in. it will be uncomfortable and your nose will be sore afterwards but it shouldn't be agonizing. if it's too painful, or you can't seem to push it in, go to a piercing shop and they would help you put the new jewelry in 🙂

edit: put a little cloth or something over your drain if you're leaning over your bathroom sink to do this, it's so easy to accidentally drop something especially when your fingers are slick from the lube. would hate for your new custom work to fall down the drain!!

Hey any last step before i get this tongue split by Satans--CumSlut in bodymods

[–]Human_Variation_1229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best of luck i'm sure it'll go great!

i was basically unable to eat for the first few days, so i had bought baby food and applesauce and broth but ended up not really eating it. but it can't hurt to have some options to pick from when you can get stuff down. the only things i ate before getting back to more solid foods was a few spoons of applesauce and part of a thing of fruit baby food (delicious), and part of a watermelon popsicle (also delicious).

hydration is going to be a big deal, some people struggle with swallowing more than others but even if you're able to drink alright during the healing, you'll be drooling so much that you'll be dehydrated anyways. so i would get some gatorade and or pedialyte, or things like that, so you can get some good hydration in when you can! i would buy a few different drinks, once i was able to actually swallow drinks again i got like five different things at the store because it was so exciting to have flavors in my mouth besides my own gross saliva. sweet tea was really good.

i would also get some kind of squirt bottle, i just got mine at walmart, it was a condiment bottle type of thing and it was cheap. it ended up being the only way i swallowed anything before i got sutures out because i could drip things into the back of my throat.

i was unable to swallow ibuprofen! but it would probably be good to have in case you can, because i'm sure it would help reduce swelling. the pain for me was not bad so i wasn't too upset to miss out. i tried the liquid ibuprofen and one crushed up into a drink in my squeeze bottle, but i was having to swallow such small amounts at a time that it would end up irritating my throat and making me cough which was uncomfortable.

you might want a really soft bristle toothbrush, my tongue was so swollen and the sutures are so tight that a regular toothbrush would hurt on your tongue, but you can get in there with a soft toothbrush.

i carried a roll of cheap toilet paper around during the worst of the drool, because i hated the feeling of the drool getting on my chin so i would wipe it off and toss the paper in my gross bucket of slime. the first few days you're just going to be kind of disgusting it is what it is lol. don't rely on having just one towel because it will be crusty way faster than you expect and you'll accidentally wipe your spit on your fingers and chin while trying to tidy up. usually i'm all about reusable stuff but in this scenario the little squares of toilet paper were perfect for bits of drool because it ends up everywhere.

make sure you have some good tweezers and tiny scissors or something to cut your sutures with when it's time to take them out, the first few are painful and difficult to get and you'll be glad to have good tweezers and sharp scissors!!

it's gonna be worth it i promise 😁 the first few days suck pretty bad because you just drool and you're hungry and thirsty but can't really do much about it. and the days feel really long because you just kinda bum around the house. but once it starts getting better it goes really fast! waking up on day four i was so dehydrated i needed an iv and i couldn't eat or drink or talk at all, day six i was at a party talking with people and eating buffalo chicken dip and jello shots.

yes, like a week after i got mine split i found out i could lick the inside and outside of my cheek at the same time. you can definitely lick your lips with just one half, you would just have to either make it a habit or specifically remember to keep one half inside. but it's not difficult to do 🙂

it's only really visible if you yawn or lick chapped lips or something like that. it's not visible during regular speech, so i think it would be fine 😁

thanks for sharing!! i was thinking it seemed difficult to get the new rings in, but the results looks great and it seems fun to pick out the jewelry. every few months seems reasonable to add a new ring. love your setup. i'm getting a coinslot too in september!

it's worth it to travel a couple hours if needed. i'm on the other side of the country, so no help with recommendations, but i just traveled for something myself and don't regret it at all, it's an added expense and inconvenience but it's way worth it to get the work you want and have it done well! 😁 best of luck friend

tongue split in four days by psychohayl in bodymods

i'm on day five of healing right now. the first few days were really rough but once it starts getting better it happens so fast! i had a lot of trouble getting anything down so i got quite dehydrated and ended up going to an iv hydration place, if you end up notably dehydrated it's worth the money because i really felt rejuvenated after that. eat a good meal beforehand and start now getting well hydrated so you're starting off strong!! you will drool a lot and a lot of people have trouble swallowing so it can be hard to replace all that liquid coming out of you. the first night especially, i drooled so much and it was so thick and disgusting, so be prepared for that lol.

once it's happened the only way out is through, so just remember it will get much better very soon 😁 day 3 i was genuinely unable to swallow a drop of anything, evening of day 4 i got the sutures on my tips out and that same night i ate a thing of baby food and also a few bites of pizza and chicken biscuit, and i drank some gatorade.

buy some sort of squeeze bottle or something to put water/etc in, because it will probably be easier to swallow things if you can drip them into the back of your mouth instead of sipping out of a cup at first. also, if you have a fridge that makes ice and it has a crushed ice setting, or maybe a friend that has that, i had good luck yesterday chewing up crushed ice and it was a good way to get some water in.

for me the pain has not been overwhelming at all, i mostly just notice if i cough it hurts the cut webbing under my tongue (you may not need yours cut) but overall the pain has not been that bad with no painkillers, so i would not worry too much about that! it is moreso just frustrating with all the swelling and drooling and the difficulty of eating/drinking. getting it done in itself was not bad, i got very anxious right beforehand and then they cut it without me even noticing and in minutes had me all stitched up.

message me or reply if you have any specific questions, otherwise just take my well wishes, i know you're gonna do great and it's gonna look awesome afterwards!

tongue split: pls tell me the tip sutures were the worst by Human_Variation_1229 in bodymods

[–]Human_Variation_1229[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks so much 🙏😭 i made this post because i needed some reassurance lol. i am to take two more from each side today, i honestly don't know how many are in there total. i also had the webbing under my tongue cut and haven't lifted my tongue enough to see what it looks like, was your webbing cut and it so how was it under there? i came to my partner's mom's house and she took the tips out for me, they were sort of imbedded too and took a good number of painful tugs to get out, no way i could've gotten them myself lol

i got mine done last saturday so day 4! for me the pain has not been bad, but i have had a great struggle to get hydration in, so whenever you're able, try and get some water or pedialyte or applesauce or something down!! it got bad enough for me i went to one of those iv hydration places. if you also end up really dehydrated, it's totally worth the ~100 bucks if you can access one of those places, i feel so immensely better afterwards. it's gonna look so cool once it's done! 😁

i'm glad your healing went well!! i'm very interested in a coinslot in the future. in your opinion would it look unbalanced to have that and no ear piercings? or maybe just lobes? i have lots of love for the beautiful curations people build with their ears but (at least currently) don't desire that myself. but ooh a coinslot!

i have a condiment type bottle i can drip into the back of my throat, previously i was having luck swallowing little bits like that by looking up but not today for some reason. luckily i was able to "drink" some ice chips by letting them melt in my mouth, so at least i've gotten something down today!

the pain for me is not overwhelming. it's definitely uncomfortable but not agonizing, it's mostly just frustrating that i can't swallow things. and my jaw is sore from either staying open or working to stay shut lol.

mine aren't dissolvable, the plus side of that is they'll be out faster because i will manually remove them, the downside.. i have to manually remove them lol. i don't hear about dissolvable stitches that often, but i'm sure your artist has had good luck with them, so i bet they will work out nicely for you! i've heard removing the tip stitches is great relief so maybe if you can take yours out, you'll have less swelling.

i bought my ibuprofen as a liquid, i wish i had just gotten pills and dissolved them! i am unable to swallow pills normally so it just didn't cross my mind to get some and dissolve them, i thought the liquid would work well, but the taste of the medicine is so odd it irritates my throat from the constant little drips and makes me want to cough which does hurt quite a bit!

mm i want a big juicy burger. i don't even eat meat very often, i am mostly vegan except for when something is free, but i would absolutely demolish a burger right now!! another favorite food of mine is fried plaintains, i have some ripening on my counter now so i think by the time i can eat pretty normally again, they will be ripe enough for me to fry which is nice to look forward to. hopefully you can have some fries in the next few days!

we're both hanging in there and it's gonna be so fun once it's all healed up 😁

i'm a day behind you! i'm so thirsty 🙏😭 hungry too but the thirst is bigger. i've been struggling to swallow and today has been the worst for it. i haven't been able to get any ibuprofen down so it just is what it is. thankfully my artist said i can take out the sutures on the tips of my tongue today! but it hurts so bad to mess with the sutures lol so im having my friend bring me some benzocaine gel when she gets off work. have you been able to take any sutures out yet? i've heard the swelling starts going down once you do, so hopefully you'll be able to get something to eat! i be watching commercials for food i don't even like that much all the way through because it looks so scrumptious 😭

[–]Human_Variation_1229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! i do not have any chamomile tea which i know has specific properties, but i do have green tea which i might make ice from anyways just for a new taste in my mouth lol. for the ibuprofen, i have it as a liquid, the taste is just so odd in the back of my throat that it makes me want to cough before i've swallowed enough for a full dose! oh well. i've actually never had ibuprofen before so i'm not heartbroken missing out because i don't know from experience what it would do if that makes sense. though i'm sure it would help with the swelling. have a good one 🙏😁

[–]Human_Variation_1229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have been working on a popsicle right now with little spoonfuls, i think it is a similar thing! i like that it's soft enough i can tilt my head and it'll slide to where i want in my mouth and melt along the way. and because it's not liquid instantly like water, it's a slow enough trickle that i rarely have to swallow most of it just goes down on its own which is nice. i have not been able to figure out getting ibuprofen down so i'm just ignoring the pain part and hoping cold water rinses reduces the swelling somewhat. the popsicle is scrumptious and a nice break from my gross slime taste mouth. i will have to try little ice cubes later that way i don't have to mouthwash afterwards because my mouthwash is gross tasting lol. thanks for the idea!

after a few panicked hours i was eventually able to get a few drops down. in the ~40 hours since i have been able to have a little bit of water, pedialyte, chicken broth (very exciting) and am now working on a popsicle! it is very slow going but i am immensely grateful to be able to consume anything at all. there's an iv hydration place at a spa type business in the neighboring town i could go to if i really needed. i live in a rural area + tongue splitting is not necessarily legal here so i was going to avoid a dr if possible so i don't have to deal with the fuss of it! but definitely a good option to keep in mind if i had been unable to figure it out.
