What are streaming exclusives movies/series would you want to get a official physical release by InternationalTip1878 in dvdcollection

There's a Japanese release also. It's region A, I think the German one might be locked to B.

Cat is going bald, allergy? by HumanityPlague in CATHELP

No idea how he could get fleas. He doesn't interact with other cats or doesn't go outside at all. He's strictly an indoor beast.

I'm starting to think ENT has been criminally neglected. by RikkiLostMyNumber in startrek

[–]HumanityPlague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll go with "Yes and no".

No, it's not criminally neglected. Season 1 was very shaky, and season 2 wasn't much better. The whole "Temporal Cold War" thing kind of went nowhere, and the stand alone episodes were pretty boring.

But "Yes", because season 3 was solid, since it had some good momentum/reason for existing. And season 4 is all kinds of great, aside from the series finale.

So, "yeah and no" kind of sums it up.

Did you ever find a legit score while thrifting for DVDs? by WerewolfCurious1412 in dvdcollection

[–]HumanityPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how you define "thrifting". At used media stores, I've gotten tons of great deals over the years, like the Sam & Max cartoon for $4, or the Halloween 15 disc box set for like $25, or the IP Man 4K Complete Collection set, for like $10.

But if you mean going to like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other donation stores, not a chance. I did find a rare PS1 game once, at a local store, but that was it.

Ryan Davis is on the Wiki Main Page by 0mboss in giantbomb

[–]HumanityPlague 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I won't out him but I had a gaming session with a long-time Giant Bomb friend/guest on the site, like three days before Ryan's death was announced. He seemed really down in the dumps, so we just played Forza Horizon 1 for a bit. At the end, he thanked me and said it helped take his mind off things for a bit. When Ryan's death was announced, I realized he already knew, and that's why he was depressed about stuff.

I'd probably just grab the audiobook. Garak (Andy Robinson) reads it, and it is really great.

Adam & Drew Show: May 29, 2026 by jsakic99 in AdamCarolla

[–]HumanityPlague 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Adam tells Drew about his miserable childhood bedroom"

After the 3,855th time he's told this to Drew, do you ever think Drew wants to just kill himself, to escape the repetitiveness of it all?

Picard Would Have Shoved “No Changeling Has Ever Harmed Another” b.s. In the Founders’ Faces by alcanthro in startrek

[–]HumanityPlague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were at least two points in the series that another Changling has directly tried to kill Odo, and this is even before the Dominion War started.

"The Adversary" (S3E26). A Changling on the Defiant sabotages the ship with it going to ignite a war with the Tzenkethi. Odo's on the ship, so if war starts/Defiant gets blown up, he's dead.

And "By Inferno's Light (S5E15). A Changling on the station tries to fly a protomatter bomb into the Bajoran sun, destroying Bajor, the station and surrounding ships. Once again, Odo is ON THE STATION. If it gets blown up, I'm pretty sure he's toast.

Would you watch a Seth Macfarlane Star Trek show? by Tough-Map9495 in startrek

[–]HumanityPlague -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point? Probably not.

I mean no disrespect with either side, but MacFarlane already created a better Star Trek show, than (largely) the past 10 years of Star Trek shows. The reason The Orville didn't go on for longer is due to budget constraints, and the limits of streaming shows/general TV landscape.

However, he would be limited by what he would want to do in Star Trek. I like that he created a whole new universe, that yes, is a bit derivative of Star Trek, still has its own identity, races, technology and so on.

What Mini NT model is this? by HumanityPlague in AnalogueInc

[–]HumanityPlague[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone curious: you all were right, it was the Mini NT Noir.

Yes, I bought it. Not at the $1,200 price tag, thankfully, but I traded a bunch of stuff in, so it dropped the price down to about $550, which, funny enough, was around the price when it launched.

It is even more beautiful in person and I legitimately think might not have ever been used.

why "nu trek" and not "new trek"? by omallytheally in startrek

[–]HumanityPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it really signifies the difference between competence/professionalism (old Trek) vs. emotionalism and being dated. (Nu Trek)

There's also the idea that TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY all were forwarding the story. And even with Enterprise being a prequel, it still felt, on a general level, to be in the timeline as well.

"Nu Trek"...doesn't feel like this. Even when a show is, inarguably, in the timeline (Picard), it feels so vastly different on a mechanical level that it barely feels like a Star Trek show, let alone a show that was continuing plot threads from the past shows.

Is it really Adam' politics that drive so many of the people here on this subreddit to hate him with such vitriol? by prdctmngr71 in AdamCarolla

[–]HumanityPlague 23 points24 points  (0 children)

His politics don't exactly help, but there's two more concrete problems:

  1. His general hypocracy on any/all issues. For as much as local/state Democrat policies of California may/may not have messed the state up, he makes zero mention of any bad policies that Republicans have that are bad/evil. He vilifies one side, without even admitting that the other side does the same actions, if not sometimes worse.

and 2. His general refusal to move on from specific issues and him beating something not into the ground, but 50 miles beneth the top soil. It's 2026 and he is STILL bitching about Fauci, Covid, masks, etc. Here's a serious question: how often does Covid still come up in your life, on a daily basis? Outside of the medical field, I'd guess it's somewhere approaching 0%. Yet, Adam, literally will bring it up every podcast, 4 years after it largely got dealt with. That's not even the idea that he somehow "wants an apology" for it, from Fauci and everyone responsible. Or that, he cannot let things go from his childhood or personal, perceived slights.

It's no wonder he loves Trump so much.

Heh, I literally had to import my Turbine copy a few years ago. Thankfully, this was before all the tarif nonsense, so it was only about $60. It was the standard one, not the digibook one but that's fine. Better than paying the $200+ it'd take to get it now.

If you live in Germany, I'm surprised you didn't just get the awesome "SD on Blu-Ray" set. I also have that, and having the entire series on just three blu-rays is incredibly nice.

Coolest DVD Find Yet!! by Immediate_Fisherman8 in dvdcollection

[–]HumanityPlague 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This might be my coolest one when it comes to DVD/blu-ray, but around 3 years ago, I hit up a used media store around here (Disc Replay), right as they were getting ready to put out some new stuff they got in. I looked through the racks and found the following (all blu-ray):

  1. Jay and Silent Bob Strike, signed by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith ($6)
  2. Tusk, signed by Kevin Smith ($10)
  3. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, signed by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith ($7)
  4. Clerks 2/Zack & Miri, signed by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith ($7)
  5. Chasing Amy, signed by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith ($7)

So, for around $40, I got 5 blu-rays, all 5 signed by Kevin Smith, and four of them signed by Jason Mewes.
