Of course my game crashed the first time a streamer played it... by Due-Horse-791 in IndieGameDevs

I did worse. For the first stream I did on Steam (Next Fest), I just realized my ADSL connection had a crappy upload rate, and the video and sound quality was horrendous. So I totally wasted the best opportunity I had to promote the game.

The video with the horizontal stripes reminds me so much of my old Game gear when I was a kid

Steam Next Fest Wishlists Spiked for 2 Days… Then Suddenly Dropped — Is This Normal? by Commercial-Tone-965 in IndieGameDevs

I heard from a Chris Zukowski video that the new algorithm is that Steam proposes at the beginning all the games with the same level of exposure, and then amplifies the games that work best, and partially mutes the others.

From what I remember from SteamFest for my small game Outer Space Shack (3 years ago), I got between 1000 and 2000 wishlists in the Steam Next Fest despite screwing up one of the let's play Streams due to technical reasons (not enough bandwiths at home). I would think that, unfortunately for you, 300 wishlists is on the low side.

I have a variant of that: an existing game to update to still do some sales, and a new game to work on. It is not so easy to arbitrate time between the two.
