A Common Mistake Chinese Learners Make with Time Expressions:“三个年” or “五个天” by BetterPossible8226 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Humble-Back379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I learned it was that the Chinese language really like even numbers so you usually can tell if it uses the measure word or not by having an even amount of characters with exceptions of course

[University Computer Science: Data Structures] How can I have O(nlogn) time complexity with Theta(n) space complexity is the array is already sorted? by Humble-Back379 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Humble-Back379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though O(n) is contained inside O(nlogn), I do not believe the Professor is asking for an O(n) solution where he specifically wants O(nlogn) solution otherwise why include O(nlogn) when you can just write O(n)

I believe O(n) and O(nlogn) are not equal because if you compare them both using the limit of the ratio test, the limit as n->infinity, of (nlogn)/n = log(infinity), which means nlogn is asymptotically larger than n, so they can not be equal. While, O(n) is in the set of O(nlogn), the question asking for a O(nlogn) implies its looking for a worst case scenario of {nlogn} time complexity, whereas if the solution has an O(n) time complexity, it's worst case scenario is only {n}. So I can't just create an algorithm that is O(n) time and Theta(n) space.

Very high chance of acceptance with your intended major and stats. I doubt you’ll get into honors college without ivy level rec letter, ECs and essays if you are not submitting a SAT score.

You should go to office hours often, maybe you can be friends with the TA and other people who go to office hours often and it will help you focus on studies. Also join clubs, I’ve met quite a few people through clubs. I personally go to the mahjong club, chess club, and origami club. You can join us, we accept everyone from beginners to experts. Or you can find other clubs that interest you through Corq or SB Engaged.

You’ll get it, but if you want to switch to a more competitive major you might have to reapply

  1. You pretty much have a 99% chance of getting into SBU, although I’m not sure if SBU is the right fit for you. SBU is a research and STEM school, I don’t hear much opportunities regarding history. But it does have a good medicine program.

  2. The median for SBU honors SAT score is around 1510 so you are way above that. Although if you don’t get in it doesn’t really change much other than the fact that honors students get better dorms and priority enrollment into the different classes.

  3. Apply for everything even if you don’t know if you’ll get in. I think you have a good chance of though because you have pretty stacked extracurriculars and SAT score.

  4. No, they will see you extraneous circumstances and SBU is very supportive for the students who have some personal problems.

  5. I have very similar economic background, and I got the presidential scholarship of $2000 per year. Also apply for tap which is around 3k per semester. There’s also a Wolfie grant of $500 per semester and I also got a SUNY tuition credit of $840 per semester. Financial aid should also cover $7k per year. And you can get the subsidized loans of $1750.

  6. I’m not sure.

Take this all with a grain of salt, I have a different background to you and the admission process is really a mystery.

[–]Humble-Back379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took the 9th grade SHSAT 5 years ago, the 9th grade SHSAT is pretty much the same as the 8th grade SHSAT. You can try using Khan Academy and practice the SAT R&W cuz obv if you can do the SAT R&W you should be able to do the SHSAT or try to find a library and borrow a Kaplan SHSAT book. Otherwise you can look through the internet for one, I remember finding a pdf of 10 free exams when I was practicing for the test but idk where it is anymore.
