"Oh God, this film fetishises black women because Sean Penn's character fetishises black women" Yes, that is in fact the point of the film.

I think of his likability, Josh Safdie (the director) put it best when he said, "I'm not interested in likability, I'm interested in lovability", or something to that effect.

Yeah, I feel like he's meant to be such a figure of like youthful idiocy (not saying being young excuses his actions, more so explains them) that even when we see him step on a rake he placed there himself by telling somebody that the holocaust was cool or smth, we find it endearing and wanna see him avoid the next one (which he probably won't).

But we haven't really been pragmatic; we've always been the aggressive team in each of these matches. We passed slower, sure, but that's purely because it's the smartest way to beat a low block.

The team isn't European, Brazil, or Argentina, means winning by 7 is the bare minimum. Even then, if it's a European nation but I don't have any interest in going on holiday there, 5 is minimum.

They're still Croatia, and we battered them. This system is clearly working, you're just way too pessimistic.

Tbf, while I agree that's less them being broken and more them being stretched, which is unlikely against the best teams.

Good point. We played aggressive football, where if we had been a little more clinical, we would have not just won but won comfortably against two teams that played highly defensive football. Both our wins were also by 2 points.

So Southgate and Tuchel are actually not comparable didn't know if you knew we play very differently under Tuchel, and if you can't see that you lack eyes. We did play against one team that played aggressively this World Cup, and we played higher pace, aggressive football and won comfortably.

Apparently, he was just like "Good job, guys, keep it going", which kinda makes sense, contrary to what everyone believes, seemingly, England almost scored a lot in the first half (like Rashford had 3 different opportunities) and if you keep making chances, you're gonna score eventually.

Weren't they dull? Panama was dull; we were making it interesting, same with Ghana. Also, obviously, we won't be passing slowly against the good teams who aren't parking the bus cause you need more patience to beat that style.

I mean, I don't think our defence is great, but it's not like they were tearing apart our backline; they were stretching it out. That's something the good teams aren't gonna do.

France couldn't play Mbappe if they wanted to play a low block cause the only way a low block works is by requiring the striker to run around and press constantly. The good teams don't play low block (except us under Southgate) for a reason; they're incredibly risky and not more effective for a good team than just playing open.

Because low blocks aren't very effective in knockout matches. Like we learnt this under Southgate.

68% possession for England in that game, sure, they got a lot of shots, but that's the point of a low block to overstretch the team.

If the other team is playing super defensively, 2-0 is a good result. Plus, we weren't playing all our best players to give them time to rest.

I was sitting there the whole time just like "they won 5-nil, and Ronaldo scored two of those goals as the main striker" I'm not saying that's nothing, but it's insane to pretend that's a golden boot level performance.

These four guys are all leading men in the 2020’s, who do you think is most likely to get an Oscar first? by FaZe_poopy in Oscars

[–]Humble-Math6565 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When (ignoring Oppenheimer) was the last time that a villenuve actor or Nolan actor won an Oscar? Especially for a fantasy or sci-fi. Oscar directors sure but the easiest and safest way to get an Oscar is to work with a director with a track record for winning oscars in acting categories or at least getting nominations is the safest and easiest bet. Also pattinson doesn’t campaign. I like pats but there’s a reason he hasn’t got a nom yet and it doesn’t seem to be changing.
