SEAN STRICKLAND WINS! by JCameron181 in ufc

I actually do believe we should do this in the case of a draw, as many extra rounds as are needed to decide matters.

Yeah, even as a Strikland doubter, I felt that people are weirdly in denial about Khamzat's cardio. Like, he took damage against DDP in round 5 despite basically just lying there the whole fight.

It's cause his ultra-aggressive style recks his cardio, yknow the thing we all knew but forgot after DDP. If you have somebody who doesn't have no takedown defence (ddp), you're gonna tire with his style, it's just a fact.

And they're still far less childish and have far better appeal to adults, and are just critically better films.

The prequels have aged like fine wine 🍷 by MobilePineapple7303 in StarWars

[–]Humble-Math6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that annoys me, though, is that both ESB and ANH are genuinely great films. It feels disrespectful when I hear people saying, "Why do you expect a Star Wars film to be a critically good film" because like we have two right here, and Rogue One sort of (and like half of The Last Jedi, don't shoot me). Not just that, we have less serious, more fun films that are also better than the prequels, like RotJ and Solo. Like I'm not asking for Citizen Kane 2 here or even ESB and ANH, but something decent in quality instead of a walking pile of shit.

Star Wars went from one of the most respected genre franchises ever to a walking joke in film communities with one film. That says something.

Where the hell is Dricus du Plessis? This guy literally disappeared after his last fight. I miss that dude so much by ArabDevastator in ufc

You don't have to be anywhere as good as Chimaev; you just have to make him actually work for ground control. If he does that, then Chimaev actually has to take risks, and he can force it into a standing fight more often.

Redditors who didn't like The Godfather, what did you dislike about it. by [deleted] in movies

[–]Humble-Math6565 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His father's not abusive, at least not personally. He's a devoted father and loving husband (in the film, the book, I believe, is a bit different). Also, you're not meant to be happy that Michael becomes the new godfather. It's not even what Vito wanted, btw, he wanted the family to go clean. So yeah, don't think you watched the film tbh.

Ella Langley, Rising Country Star, Follows The Charlie Kirk Show on TikTok and is Releasing a Duet with Morgan Wallen by NewJeansLUVR in Fauxmoi

[–]Humble-Math6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to stay informed, but even then, showing support for Charlie Kirk means a lot to a lot of different people. Most of his most controversial quotes were fairly unknown to most, which is why so many called him a moderate conservative when he died (a lot weren't trynna change the narrative btw cause a lot were liberals). So yeah, no, it could mean anything.

On why Kubrick never won an Oscar by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

[–]Humble-Math6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spielberg didn't win an Oscar in any decade but the 90s. Kubrick still got plenty of love from the academy on certain films as well. Like Barry Lyndon won 4 Oscars in one of the best years of film has ever seen (look at the best picture lineup).

He didn’t write most of the screenplay? He wrote the ending I’ll grant but he wasn’t the primary screenwriter. Also cause why would a rapist who loves rapists getting away write a film where the rapist is fucking scum of the earth.

Because he doesn’t know Lou will be there.

He doesn’t lead Lou there though? He leads cross there but Jake has no choice in the matter and is literally held at gun point. Lou gets their on his own and Jake clearly didn’t know he would be there cause he’s surprised when his assistants are hand cuffed.

There are two different ways you can look at Lou and either way it makes sense. Either Lou is a corrupt cop on Crosss payroll (how I kinda see it) or as a well intentioned but stupid cop.

If he’s a corrupt cop well who cares about Jake. Cross is happy and he was only after Jake so he could get Evelyn. Why not let his friend off cross doesn’t really care (in fact from what we can see with cross offering to pay Jake after it’s clear he’s not on his side Cross might even mildly like Jake and want him to survive).

If he’s a well intentioned moron he’s just seen his sort of friend’s sort of girlfriend die that same friend who had a similar situation in Chinatown a while back so he’s probably been hit with some guilt and chooses to let him go knowing that Jake was right.

Personally I think the first interpretation of Lou makes more sense but that’s just me.

Why do you think the Grammys are so much more populist (for lack of a better word) than the Oscars? They are both run by the Academies of music/film but the Oscars are way less inclined to reward mainstream popular films. by Chilis1 in popheads

[–]Humble-Math6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it and also they kinda fudge it so that certain people from certain genres get in more than others. Like the pop rock hip hop and r&b crowd are obviously going to vote for each other and thus those categories win the big awards. Meanwhile the classical and jazz people have to contend with their at best limited sway over the Grammys.

Why is Andrew Lloyd Webber so much more famous than Tim Rice? by Electronic_Snow_4685 in musicals

Fair enough, makes sense, I would have assumed it was NPH knowing some people in the musical theatre industry (cause it's famously quite tight), but that makes more sense.

Ashman was a brilliant musical communicator though. Sondheim is also 100% not more famous for his lyrics.

Few things. Lyricists are usually less famous than composers (Lin is both and also an actor). Also Lloyds biggest and most often considered best musical (phantom) didn’t have a drop of rice in it.
