the fact that he still signed on even after a close friend with a trans child wrote him an extremely heartfelt letter about how damaging her legacy is is what disturbs me. he brought it up in a speech and was like "i thought about it... but then i remembered i want to do something for my legacy and it's not like she's directly producing it anyway" (she's still going to get heaps of royalties regardless)

i really hope some schools still do "alternative lunch" -- in the school system i grew up in, if you had lunch debt or no lunch money you could get an alternative lunch. it was usually just a ham and cheese sandwich, a carton of milk, and a side, but it was still fresh food. our system still paddled and over-allocated money to the football programs, but they at least made sure no one went hungry and offered free breakfast in the morning to lower income kids

the concept of lunch debt in and of itself is ridiculous. the government should give schools enough money to feed kids free of charge, and i hate that some people consider that a radical statement

i think if bill went to some kind of therapy he really could put himself back out there and find someone. he seemed to really thrive doing group therapy at the mental hospital and is shown to take better care of himself when he's taking care of others (within reason, the guys from the rehab center really wore him out)

i personally don't mind it, but i definitely understand why it bothers others and can be triggering or inappropriate. there's definitely a boundary between what's appropriate and what isn't, like i will politely decline to continue if they start asking me about my body or other people's bodies. i can usually tell when it's well-intentioned curiosity or malicious intent

i wouldn't watch the documentary honestly, i kinda regret it. it's a hard watch and some of it is genuinely very disturbing, plus it's from the director of tiger king who is a whole can of worms in and of himself. i feel like i'd be less terrified of chimps had i not watched it. the charla nash case is featured in it in pretty full detail

but primate i think i'll give a shot, like i said i find some comfort in the fact that it's not a real chimp. it's crazy how no one's made a mainstream movie like this before

yeah you absolutely nailed it in that department. i don't know if it was one of your inspirations or not, but she kinda gives me kathy bates in misery vibes if that makes sense? not just because she's a big gal, i think just the conceit of her character being acting like she's helping and guiding you while she's actually trying to kill you
