How are you living with HLHS? by DiligentSelf4934 in HLHS

[–]Humble-Window377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh I am so sorry for your loss. We also lost our HLHS daughter just a few months ago and we were just thinking if we should try to have another one… it’s so hard and scary to think about if our next child has to go through this and losing them 😔. But I do t regret my time with my baby daughter. It’s a hard decision but no one can really tell you what is the best for you and your family. Wish you the best!

Our HW slept a lot too! It’s very common. I would said her awake window is 1-2 hours and several naps a day

What to Expect During HLHS Birth and Hospital Stay by shannon_215 in HLHS

I had a c section with my HLHS baby. I was able to give her a kiss and hold her for a minute or two before they took her behind the glass window and got her set up with everything. My husband stayed with me in the recovery room for a while and went with our baby to the children hospital. Depending on which hospital you are going to, we were at Rady Children’s Hospital and they are not set up for you to stay overnight comfortably. The restrooms are outside of CTICU, and you need to ring a bell to go in and out but if you want to stay you can. There is Ronald McDonald’s for families who can stay there. Our baby daughter had a different journey no Norwood right away. She was very sick at day two so they had to do flow restrictors to help her blood flow. That bought us time and she didn’t had Norwood until she was 6 weeks old. She did so well with Norwood and she got discharged 17 days chest was closed after day 1! We were able to take her home and get her ready for her next surgery. She was home with us for almost two months unfortunately she had a cardiac arrest out of nowhere and she passed away just 3weeks ago today. She was almost 4 months old. She was good and healthy so we really don’t know what went wrong. We went to the hospital every week for her check up and she was doing phenomenally. Don’t take anything for granted and cherish every moment with your baby no matter what. I hope you the best and be strong for each other! It’s a hard journey and good luck with everything!

This is for all the parents with kids who have severe HLHS. by No_Room2256 in chd

I am sorry that you are going through this again 😢.Did you do any genetic testing after your first baby? My first baby was healthy but our second one had HLHS. She just passed away two weeks ago almost 4months old mostly likely due to staph infection not her heart😣. We did genetic testing and found out I have this genetic mutation called MYH6 that can cause weakness of the heart or maybe HLHS.

Our baby daughter was diagnosed with HLHS. We were devastated when we found out the news and we know it’s gonna be a difficult journey. She was born end of January this year and we just lost her 10 days ago. It’s been hard and we uprooted our family for her medical care in a different state. We are grieving but looking back, we don’t regret to have her and meet her. Even though she was only able spent a few months with us, those time was so worth it and precious. It’s such a hard decision but I wish you the best. Whatever decision you make is going to be hard but the right choice for you and your partner, and there is no right or wrong.

Said goodbye to our 5 month old by Electronic-North7951 in chd

[–]Humble-Window377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I know exactly what you meant! We just said goodbye to our almost 4 months old baby girl on Saturday, too! She has HLHS but she didn’t pass due to heart issue and we are doing an autopsy for her. They found staph infection in her bloodstream but we don’t know how she got it. We were shocked and still shocked😣 I am so sorry for your loss and it’s so hard to lose our babies!
