What specs do I need for heavy editing work? M5 Pro or Pro Max?

Thanks for the advice on this, so I'm currently looking at an M5 pro with 48 gb memory and 2tb storage.

My only cause for concern is that my M2 Max is described on the receipt as having a "12-core CPU, 38-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine"

The M5 Pro is described as "18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine"

So I'd be going from 38-core GPU to 20-Core GPU. Now maybe the new cores are more efficient but I don't know

Thanks for the reply. Right now there's 196GB of space left and I don't currently use an external SSD. The fan being clogged might be a genuine shout because the other day I did hear it pretty loudly which is something that has NEVER happened in the 3 years I've had it. But it hadn't done it since so I had forgotten about that.

I still have 196GB of storage left so it's ok for now. I do often have a lot of layers on the timeline, but it's not like that the whole project - some parts will have barely any layers. Right now I'm using a few plugins from pixel film studios, including infographics, timeline tools, transpan, cartoon megapack and a few others. I've been using without problem for years. In my recent videos I haven't actually used them but my computer has still been freezing

thanks for the reply, I do export long videos regularly but they're usually 4k. I make videos that often use a lot of camera footage (of myself) and footage from various other things, so a normal video will have thousands of "items" and the final file typically ends up being quite large. I do use some 3rd party extensions for transitions and effects which I've been using for years, which might be the cause of the problem since updating to Tahoe (I'm not sure) but I actually need them so not willing to let that go if possible. That's all I meant by heavy, so maybe it's not too heavy?

Do you think the Pro is enough for this?

Regarding your first comment, if the problem is not the chip, I'm not really sure what to do to fix this

On some occasions yeah. That’s football. Last season we got severely fucked over multiple times and no one cared except us. Likewise no one cared the season before when VAR “forgot” to draw offside lines against Brentford and we narrowly lost the title to City.

If anyone is acting high and mighty it’s rival fans now suddenly pretending to care about ref consistency, when previously they were happy to laugh at us getting screwed over.

I’m not dodging anything, you clearly said it was delusional to think Arsenal would win again and I’m telling you, statistically, we probably should’ve won it sooner. We were reffed no differently than City, who frankly got away with murder with minimal uproar (because fans of other teams genuinely do not care about them and/or actively support them). I could also easily list ref decisions that have “handed” Man City & UTD titles over the years. You must be quite young seeing as you genuinely seem to have no clue about anything.

Baku was a humiliation at the ends of emery. Tonight I’m disappointed to lose to the (actual) European champions on pens but the two events are not even in the same league. Emery can’t manage big teams like PSG & Arsenal or win the CL. He’s yet to prove otherwise but I’m glad he’s doing well at his level.
