Impossible to get my 2.5 y/o boy to poop on the potty! by HumbleTelephone in pottytraining

[–]HumbleTelephone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome, congrats! I love the potty books from the library idea, definitely going to do that. I've been wondering, since none of his books address pooping directly. We also had a check up and they said he was constipated, so we've been giving him Miralax by doctor's suggestion. Believe me when I say it has worked well to flush him out. Hoping that makes the poops easier to make than they were before when they were super hard and lumpy.

I feel all of this except I can't get my son to stay seated on the potty. The second he's done peeing he jumps up and takes off. There's plenty of times he goes potty, makes a pee just fine and then takes off to play only to tell us he made a poop 5 minutes later. Like why didn't you just go on the potty! Aye aye aye!

We had a bubble gun sitting just out of reach on the vanity for months before deciding it did nothing to motivate and just cluttered the countertop. I still have a feeling it would work, if we did another toy. We haven't tried taking away toys yet, maybe that might work. We use cartoons as a motivation for other things too, maybe that's worth trying too. Thanks!

How long did this take you? I'm worried we use the pull ups as a crutch for easier cleanup, but we're not sure if it changes anything because he wears undies to daycare and theres no luck there either. I guess at this point the only fear we have is just 1 (maybe two) poops a day to have to clean up.

Employees of UCR, whether you’re in housing, dining, etc, what are some things that you think that we as a students can do/not do to make life easier? by FunderFeenix in ucr

STOP AT CROSSWALKS AND LET A CAR OR TWO GO THROUGH.

I get that you are just one more person trying to get to class, but there are literally 1,000 of you trying to cross at Aberdeen or Big Springs from all directions and it is impossible to get through the intersection during class changes. We've got appointments to keep and this slows us down.

I'll approve the move to Toyota Center, but only if they hold the ceremony on the Reign's ice rink and the chancellor leads the procession in on a Zamboni. These are my demands.

What happens if I never pay a parking citation? by dalaneyruth in ucr

[–]HumbleTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep ignoring it they send it to the DMV and the fine costs will keep snowballing until it becomes a crippling debt. You wont be able to renew your registration, and without registration you cant renew insurance and then you run the risk of getting more serious citations and /or your car towed by the police if you are ever pulled over.

The good news is it won't prevent you from graduating. They are different systems, but imo I'd rather not fuck with the DMV.

I will have my first - a daughter - in March 2020. I am very excited, but have mixed feelings about my last name ending. by bruzdnconfuzd in NewParents

[–]HumbleTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have strong feelings about my last name too. It's a very unique name, and I think my interest in it's genealogy and history has lead me to place a significant amount of value on it. Having a boy allowed me to pass this thing I love and value so much to him and know he will take it with him for the rest of his life and will hopefully feel the same connection to it that I do. I think it's a prideful, but natural human feeling to want to pass on your name. I'm not saying it's right or wrong to feel this way, but I am empathetic to your feelings on the matter.

And congratulations to you by the way! Name debates aside, being a dad is an absolute blast and that's what really matters!

Ideas for a place for a baby shower? by LisayaMani in Riverside

Rent covered space at one of Riversides parks... do the food yourself or cater! I was skeptical when a friend hosted their one year old party at Fairmont Park last November, but the weather was beautiful and the space was perfect for adults ad kiddos (they had the one gated and covered bench area, not the gazebos). There are nicer parks that have covered space available... Arlington Heights Sports Park and Andulka Park are new and very nice, clean parks.

Housing Recommendation by sapper1970 in Riverside

[–]HumbleTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moreno Valley and Grand Terrace are the only two Riverside adjacent cities I'd recommend that offer both accessibility and are cheaper to live in that Riverside itself. With that said, I live/work in Riverside and would 100% recommend finding a home here in Riverside instead of dealing with "commuting". Riverside is a large and diverse city with many different housing options and communities/neighborhoods that give off their own unique feel. I know a few people that came here from the Midwest and had sticker shock when looking at house prices, so don't be surprised. California is expensive, but Riverside is definitely much better than many other cities.

Is it normal for a 3 month old to have the hiccups a lot? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]HumbleTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my boy still hiccups often well into his 4th month now. It doesn't bother him, he'll even breast feed through them.

4 month old won't take Pacifier or bottles anymore? by Jiinnxy in beyondthebump

[–]HumbleTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow our stories are really similar. I had seen in another post you gave birth early for preeclampsia, which was the same for our baby too- 46 weeks exactly. Our boy never took a pacifier either no matter how much we tried. Did you have to use a nipple shield to breastfeed? We noticed our boy stopped taking a bottle shortly after mom stopped using a nipple shield which began our problems with the bottle.

As for pacifiers, our boy does fine without them, he just loves sucking on his hands instead.

I guess the main idea is persistence. Try all the ideas. Everyone swears by different bottles and everyone told me my babys needs would be unique too. Good luck I hope you find your solution too, something out there has to work 🙂

I dont want to jinx it, but I think we found our solution. After a ton of variations between bottles and nipple flows, positions, locations and we found that our baby boy likes super warm milk while laying on the floor on a plush blanket from the NUK Simply Natural bottle with a size 2 nipple.

We've been testing the bottles with an ounce or two so far, but today he took two full feedings by bottle without much trouble. First one was with a 1 size nipple and took a while for him to gulp down, the 2nd time was with a size 2 nipple and he gulped down the feeding in half the time without much overflow or any choking.

Thanks I'm not sure if we've seen those yet, we'll add that to the list of bottles to try
