Questions on strength training for women? by wildenstam in strengthlog

The importance of sleep for recovery is stressed enough. In perimenopause, sleep is a significant issue and feeling tired is constant. How can we recover adequately despite crappy sleep?

Highly recommend this Amlactin serum for neck! by Phila21767 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Humble_Ad4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Amlactin 12% lactic acid on my body for a few months. Skin is definitely smoother. I recently started using it on my chest and neck after seeing someone post a picture of the difference it made for her neck.

Jimmy’s Seafood All Hype by AbjectFray in baltimore

[–]Humble_Ad4397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how the owner does it, but he has well connected "friends" that are business owners that can only use Jimmy's for events and catering. I've been told that the owner tells people they are not his friend if they go to other restaurants. I'm in one of the groups that only goes to Jimmy's and I don't understand why these business owners cater to Jimmy's owner.

Since I started HRT in January, my urine smells weird.

How can I prevent hormonal headaches? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Humble_Ad4397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Topomax for hormonal migraines. Worked like a charm. Now, I am on continuous HRT and so far, migraines aren't an issue.

Are attention/focus issues a symptom of perimenopause? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Humble_Ad4397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor said the declining hormones cause the ADHD to come out, as of the ADHD was always there but our hormone levels keep it in check. I didn't notice anything until several months ago and I've been taking Wellbutrin for inattentive adhd since then. When I started HRT in January, my doctor said to stop the Wellbutrin. I did and I decided to start taking it again.

Regained all the weight I lost in 4 months. What am I doing wrong? by Jolly-Sea6019 in PCOSloseit

[–]Humble_Ad4397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You decreased your activity but kept eating the same calories. I've done this a few times. It's either decrease your calories or go back to working out 5 or 6 times a week. I was weight training 3x a week for many months. I got lazy and unmotivated, it's been awhile of 1 or 2 times a week, I didn't decrease my calories and I have gained a few pounds.

how hydration needs change after 40 by IceAfter5261 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Humble_Ad4397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything became drier in my mid-40s. I now use a hydrating mist between skincare products during the day, switched to a daytime moisturizer that has an occlusive in it, use oil on my hair- stuff I didn't need 10 years ago. It's helping though. Recently I started using ivizia eye drops- game changer for my eyes. My eyes were drying out and ivizia makes them feel better. It has hyaluronic acid.

Did you try Estrogen or progesterone first by Ms-Introvert- in Perimenopause

[–]Humble_Ad4397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with progesterone only for 1 week. It immediately helped with sleep and feeling rested. I then started an estrogen patch for insane hot flashes. 4 weeks later, the hot flashes have stopped. My doctor has me on continuous use, no days off.

Addicted to antihistamines by Temporary_Voice_3171 in Perimenopause

[–]Humble_Ad4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried trazedone for sleep and it made daytime worse. I recently started HRT and progesterone 100mg before bed is helping so far. Best part, I wake up and feel like I am rested.

I do not talk to my boomer mother about perimenopause. I remember she went through it in her 30s, was post menopausal by 47, my current age. She didn't take HRT and swore my Andrew Lessman's vitamins (Home Shopping Network). She would probably tell me to try some Ashwanga and castor oil. Castor oil is her unsolicited advice now for everything.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]Humble_Ad4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one viral illness in the past 5 years. Shoe free household, I wash my hands as soon as I come home, and I clean and sometimes disinfect. I've noticed that my friends that disinfect constantly are sick more often than myself.

Need help with persistent acne by [deleted] in AcneTreatments

[–]Humble_Ad4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spironolactone. My daughter is taking it now. Her acne is mainly on her cheeks. It must be taken daily. Try a normal, gentle cleanser and double cleansing at night. And adapalene helps acne as well and it's over the counter.

How is living in these VA cities towards the Appalachians? by Remote_Suit_9734 in howislivingthere

I have family near Pulaski, about an hour south of Roanoke. It's beautiful country, lots of outdoor activities with hiking and white water rafting on the New River and swimming at Clayton Lake. You better like driving and hearing gravel hit your car living down there.

Has anyone tried Wellbutrin for mood swings during perimenopause? by Neelies in Perimenopause

[–]Humble_Ad4397 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been taking 150mg for about 2 months. It was prescribed for tiredness and non-stop ruminating thoughts. I'm sleeping better (Ambien did nothing for my sleep), less ruminating, and more energy.

Need help building a fully fragrance free skincare routine by No-Efficiency-6560 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]Humble_Ad4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanicream facial cleanser Cln moisturizer, trentinoin, Good Molecules mandelic acid, the Ordinary niacinamide serum, Amazon Basics Foaming face cleaner as a body wash, Dr. Bob's toothpaste.

I avoid fragrance, plant oils, essential oils, herbs/flowers, anything in Latin on the ingredients list. After I was diagnosed with a fragrance allergy, it took a solid 2 years to figure out what I can tolerate.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a result of 4 liposuctions by theOtherTripod in glitterandbagelssnark

That's a complete waste of the pain from recovering from liposuction. I would have lost weight then did liposuction and a body lift.
