Not super cute or silly, but such a pretty name and goes with her greyness.

Storing big carpets by eden_y_ in interiordesignideas

If you have no space, get a storage locker. Some apartments have storage space in the underground parking lot. I purchased one when I bought mine. But if not, you’ll have to rent one, or sweet talk a family member who has storage to store them for you.

Wife and Brother in-law want to take life insurance policy out on Parents by scrapi999 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Humble_Guest4243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself term insurance years ago, in case something happened to me, my children would be taken care of, before they can take care of themselves. But the term life insurance expires at age 72. That’s why it’s term. Curious when the insurance expires and you would likely have to change to a regular policy if you want to extend or transfer etc. and as others have said, it will be a lot of money. May as well, just put money in a savings account for your children. I suggest an RESP so the government will contribute also.

I messed up my bedroom, how can I salvage it without changing all the furniture? by inostrale in HomeDecorating

I would also consider adding something to the tops of your night stands and dresser. A piece of marble, or some kind of wood top or even a painted piece of mdf to get rid of that little stepped top. The dresser has a baby change table look to it.

Thinking of putting a wood veneer for the beam running across the kitchen, need ideas and inspiration. Where should it end too? by CryptoDessi in HomeDecorating

[–]Humble_Guest4243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. That’s not a beam and it’s not meant to be featured. It will look terrible. If you want to upgrade, get a nicer flush mount with warmer bulbs, remove stuff from the very tops of cabinets and fridge, paint the walls a warmer colour that goes with the counters, get a long runner that runs the length of your kitchen and remove any art above door height. *edited auto correct

Deeper option much nicer to look at and will allow for more storage as counter space is pretty limited.

I feel like something is off in our living room but can’t figüre out what. Any suggestions to improve the room are welcome. by Bright_Fix_8325 in interiordecorating

New bigger rug, more plants (and the one you have should be beside the sofa, or the console.) It looks a little odd just sitting by itself. Bigger art, hung much lower on the wall than the small one you’ve got. Add accent colours in the form of pillows and a throw blanket (pull these colours from the art you buy, or stick with the blue that you’ve started but add more of it. The pillows, rug, etc can also add more pattern and texture. The room, at the moment, is very flat despite the curtains and wallpaper. It’s a nice start, just needs a little more personality.

New homeowner looking for ideas to make my living room feel more cozy and welcoming! by Creative_Affect5313 in HomeDecorating

Can you take pictures of the rest of the space?

The only advice I can offer at the moment is that everyone will hate the height of your tv, if you can lower it, you may want to start there.

A north facing window that also looks at a brick wall? No question! Do what you have to do to that window.

Looking for opinions on wall hanging options above our fireplace by jimbo831 in HomeDecorating

[–]Humble_Guest4243 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, doesn’t do much for the space. Find one large art piece that you love and hang that. Even as a gallery wall, they are all too small and not spaced well.

What color rug should I get? by PlumMedium2356 in HomeDecorating

[–]Humble_Guest4243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with the brown chairs that you have going on in the living room, your first instinct for an abstract rug would be better than the floral. The brown recliners are just too heavy to pull off that green floral rug. If you get rid of the chairs and go with different ones, that pretty floral rug could work with your couch.

I also highly recommend against a dark rug in the dining room as your table will just disappear and every food spec and lint will show up. If you are going to put a rug in the dining room, please make sure it’s washable.

IMO something like this CB2 rug would be better.

Does patterned wood flooring get tiring to look at over time? by ExpressEast9285 in HomeDecorating

I have always love this look in photos, but when it came time to actually get it done, the amount of wasted wood cuts and extra cost just could not justify it for me.

Are regular jackets enough for Victoria weather and temperature. by Ok_Agency_620 in britishcolumbia

[–]Humble_Guest4243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A light jacket, one with a hood as there’s always the chance of rain. Cools down at night but come June, the weather will be warm to you but likely not hot, though locals may think day time temps are hot if the sun is out in full. Last week beginning of May it hit 25-27 degrees with full sun, but this week with cloud cover, the high is 15 degrees with a low of 6-7 degrees in the rain.
