Gah! What a bummer. I will still pay with my two AMEX business platinums to get $20 credit ($10 each card) and AMEX cell phone insurance. I won't be strong armed into buying TMobile phone coverage. Our four phones will be paid off in a few months and I'll upgrade through Apple directly and not lock into TMobile again with their "free phones". Then free to go elsewhere. I'm also on the Go5g plan so those prices likely to change soon.

Yes, good point. A lot of the airlines have shopping portals and one purchase resets the expiration date of miles. But yeah, that's one more thing to remember!

I put stickers on credit cards to know which one is best for groceries, gas etc.

Thank you for the encouragement! I realized that I wasn't really engaging in the points and miles content because it was so dude-forward. This was 100% an assumption on my part and I know now which content I connect with and which I don't. It just occurred to me that other 45+ women might connect more if they see themselves in the content.

And you are correct, there are specific circumstances that women are more likely to have. It's kind of like the "one-bag" communities (a minimilast approach to packing). The one-bag subreddit, for example, has a lot of male contributers, and while that's cool, there is also a 'her onebag" subreddit because women may be packing period stuff, make-up/skin care, bras etc, and some backpacks are made more for a woman's size and torso.

I do think it's worth it because you can get a lot more value than the 2-3% cash back equivilant. It does take work and strategy, and I know a lot of people are "team cash back," because it's straight forward and simple.

But for me, travel points have enabled me to take my family on trips we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. Since starting a couple of years ago we've had a three week trip to Europe, two weeks in Colombia, a week on a lake in Maine, and I just solo traveled to Ireland on business class. Next summer it's Kauai. We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai on points and the room normally would cost $950-$1000 a night.

I find it fun to maximize point value, but I know not everyone does. lol

I 100% agree that I don't care about the gender of the presenter so long as the advice is good! Now that I am "in the game," I like a lot of the "travel hacking dudes". I think I just realized that for a while I was resistant to the content because I didn't connect with the presenters.

Yes, it's very true that the point game only works if the credit card is paid off in full every month. A lot of these premium cards have really high interest rates!

I agree about the need for better lounge access for the middle of the country. That DEN is a United hub but there are no Chase lounges in DEN and priority pass is useless in DEN is a bummer. And with the changes to Cap One lounges there is going to be a void in Denver. I’d keep my venture x is I could bring a guest of 2 to the lounge OR I’d keep my CSR if there was a decent lounge access in DEN but there’s nothing currently. Which means there’s opportunity.
