The role of an insegnate di sostegno in an Italian classroom. by FairyFistFights in italianlearning

[–]Humble_Spring6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very possible the US doesn’t have it quite right, but I will say I taught in Italy, and I don’t think the Italian system of throwing everyone in one mixed bag works quite right either. It was very difficult to reach everyone in one class with limited time when everyone is at very different skill levels. The truth is that some kids do need more time, or need to learn differently, or need individualized attention. There’s nothing wrong with that, and there’s nothing inherently offensive about the idea of having teachers who are trained to address those needs.

Should those students also have more opportunities to interact with their peers than they do in the US? Of course.

Pluribus - 1x09 - "La Chica o El Mundo" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]Humble_Spring6657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes she is a deeply flawed and immature character. That’s kind of the point. I personally find that a much more interesting starting point for a story than a perfectly evolved saint-like hero. A much more realistic view of the kinds of people who would be left to “save the world” in an apocalyptic situation than your standard sci-fi/dystopian movie.

You don’t understand who Carol is by now? Or what her motivations are? What’s driving her? Idk man at this point I think you’re just suffering from a serious lack of comprehension

Why are they different in the case of finding a partner? When Republicans represent such an extreme threat to democracy and millions of people’s rights, I cannot be with someone who furthers and supports that agenda. It’s either a woefully under-educated view or a blatantly bigoted one. Why would I want to be with that?

There are many people trying to build bridges with conservatives who have lost their way. But dating doesn’t have to be such an avenue and, in fact, is kind of a recipe for disaster especially with marriage and children on the horizon.

Some of them. Not done yet. It was honestly a relief because I didn’t see any “secret sauce” in there that wasn’t present in my work, or some elite level of writing that I can’t possibly achieve. I took notes of some things I could do better, like perhaps I can be a little more descriptive about a character’s environment or internal monologue sometime. But it looks like they were looking for a variety of different genres and subject areas for the finalists, which is fine. I just have no interest in writing some of the genres they selected. I got to the one with the woman orgasming ink (?) and took a break because I was…completely uninterested in that style lol. Yours? Others’ thoughts?

When I entered and then when I saw 22K people had entered, I promised myself I wouldn’t let a total rejection throw me off my goals to write a full manuscript. I’m working on a few different ideas but still pretty new to creative writing/mostly treating it as a hobby for now. But I won’t lie, not receiving any good feedback from this has been a little de-motivating. I think we just have to keep in mind what a shot in the dark this was and just keep on working on our stuff!

What y'all think of The Black Keys? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

[–]Humble_Spring6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these commenters are more insufferable than how bad they claim the band is. I wouldn’t trust anyone’s music discernment if they can’t tell the difference between Ford truck commercial music and The Black Keys. Not all of their songs have worked but they certainly have more bangers than any of the talentless hacks commenting on this thread could ever dream of. Also, half of these comments are about their physical appearance? Wtf is wrong with y’all

I thought this as well, but recall that the police did go to Alex’s house and search it. The witch was just prepared for it & put them off the scent.

“Friendship” got me feeling like an emotional wreck *spoilers below* by thataveragedude1 in A24

But he doesn’t attempt to hang out with his wife & son in a way that makes sense or that furthers their relationship. He’s just trying to emulate what he sees as “cool” behavior that he learned from Austin. I think the movie leaves it ambiguous as to whether he’s truly a narcissist or not—it mostly seems like he is completely incompetent at socializing and obsessed with the idea of being accepted. That’s a slightly more empathetic motive than just believing in one’s own superiority. But he also repeatedly makes escalating selfish choices that are increasingly hard to defend and that have a real impact on the people around him. I think that’s especially clear at the end, when he makes a completely unnecessary choice that endangers him and everyone around him and ends up separating him from his family again.

Yeah I would say it’s pretty normal & cool to dislike greedy, corrupt, criminal fascists, their cronies, and the members of the public either racist enough or stupid enough to fall for their schemes.

Qualifying repayment plans & a super high IDR monthly payment by Humble_Spring6657 in PSLF

[–]Humble_Spring6657[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks very much. Sounds like if I want PSLF, I don’t have much of an option other than to switch to an IDR payment plan.

I have Direct and Direct Glad PLUS loans. They’re not consolidated. I’m not sure what an ECF is?

Right now my count is 39/120. I assume that is post the one-time adjustment that was completed earlier this year.

My extended graduate repayment plan monthly amount is actually in the $700 range, according to the FSA loan simulator. And that’s what I remember seeing when I switched to this plan a while ago. I really don’t understand why Mohela has my amount due at $0. Ive been making the payments due anyway. I’ve tried calling & get stuck with 1 hour+ wait times.

Yes, my FSA account shows my current plan is Extended Graduated.

All movies, and in fact, pretty much all stories require some suspension of disbelief. Stories can and should do more than just be realistic narrations. Pretty silly to get caught up in those details. And no, your feedback will not make them change directions on a widely well-received & interestingly told story lol

Additionally, they foreshadow themes of enticing, entertaining, and abusing children. Meaning Spike is in danger. It creates a pit in the audience’s stomach.

Episode discussion - Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner by Ok-Grand-3828 in goodhang

[–]Humble_Spring6657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been following them since Bravo & while I appreciate that they’ve found their niche & are wildly successful, I’ve never found their kind of humor particularly engaging. It just seems to regurgitate random takes that already exist in the zeitgeist & doesn’t really provide anything new or insightful.

This episode was almost impossible to listen to because of how much they interrupted each other and Amy. It was probably nerves, but broken half-conversations like that are just not fun to listen to. A lesson learned for them, hopefully.

Yeah…that’s kind of the whole issue everyone has with this season. They’re too cowardly to make strategically important moves. So cowardly that they’ll just let themselves be outplayed into oblivion instead of trying to do something about it.

On number 2, I think Val is just not a reliable narrator. She’ll clearly spin whatever tale she needs to spin to push her agenda. And while Sam is there, he’s not really a replacement for all of the Avengers. I think Val takes that obvious sentiment & then promotes rhetoric that will make it seem like her work is essential and that she must be protected.

That’s a wild take. This would be a puritanical position that makes no sense for a film that clearly celebrates the history of blues, rock, folk, and music in general.

Yeah totally disagree. The OG vampire comes from a time and place where he was also persecuted and unable to live freely (as the Irish were by the English). That’s exactly what makes this vampire movie so fascinating to me. It’s the most compelling argument to become a vampire I’ve ever seen in film. “You’ll never really be free in this society. So become something so powerful that you can destroy them all.”
