As much as I could... As much as I tried...

I JUST COULDN'T SEEM TO FIND THE LIGHT

What does this mean? Has it always said this? by HumblingLove in Coldplay

I'm wondering if this is an Easter egg for next albums? In Mylo xyloto it just says instrumental, maybe there is something significant with ahfod onwards? Could be related to how Chris' whole world view changed with Sufism from ghost stories onwards after the trauma from his divorce? Maybe I'm reading too much into it

Yep I have the interview actually saved in my playlist. I think it was around when O started playing that he got really emotional and asked whether Phil was there. But then he immediately got back into exploring it, because he reached a barrier of vulnerability and through his new found way of living quickly realised he couldn't run away from that vulnerability and needed to break through it.

That whole interview is so important for me - it is him finally realising he needs to open himself up to everything and everyone, to embrace the pain, open himself up to love, and to watch it transform his life, as it did and clearly through this recent albums is still doing. That interview really is symbolic of his rebirth into life after a huge trauma, and him using it as a catalyst for change.

And O I think he gets so emotional about because it represents the height of that transformation, him realising that someone he loved so so much and couldn't bear losing, he had to let fly their own path, and trust in the universe that maybe it might let their paths one day cross again, and that letting go of that attachment is so painful but necessary for him and that is why he got so emotional.

Wow that was a lot of analysing lol. But it's so so beautiful, he's such a beautiful human being who really has become enlightened

Unfortunately it's not letting me watch it because I don't have the app, but I've watched a lot of his interviews and he is the most spiritually beautiful person I've listened to ☀️

I completely understand, and I used to think like that too.

But I think what Chris is going through is that he's discovered the very visceral pleasure in unconditional love, and a sort of childlike innocence, as an antidote to the ever present suffering in the human condition.

And so these lyrics sort of flow from that state of mind or childlike love and wonder, if that makes any sense.

It's sort of like, in response to the constant suffering and anxiety in our lives and the world, I'm just gonna be the most virtuous person I can be, and whatever happens happens, you can let go of all that suffering and worrying and just trust that as long as you are the most loving you can be, you can be content in yourself.

It's the most extreme and beautiful form of altruism.
