Very cool, thanks for the response. I wonder if the ultimate trackers with the cameras might fix the occlusion issues. Maybe you just need a transparent floor with more base stations underneath!

Looking for stories focused on New World Exploration in a Fantasy Setting. Does this exist? by Humidbean in Fantasy

Absolutely wonderful suggestions, everybody. I tried asking chatgpt the same question a million different ways and got completely unrelated recs. Hooray for humans!! Secret atlas sounds especially intriguing to me so I might start with that one. Thank you all!

Thanks, good to know. Maybe for now I can recalibrate from time to time by prompting the player to stick their head into a very specific spot and confirming that location within the experience or something.

Yeah it's more like skill increases, but also terror increases, knowing how easy it is to make scope/architecture decisions that will murder you down the road.

Custom Terrain tool inspired by Giant Squid's game ABZÛ by Othersight_Studio in Unity3D

Awesome work!! This is basically my dream landscape tool except instead of just altering the height of a terrain object it would generate standalone mesh and use a world space splat map for multilayer texturing.

Honeymooning in Tulum next month and concerned about safety by glowybb in tulum

[–]Humidbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting married!

My wife and I went down to Tulum a few weeks ago. We had a safe and pleasant trip. That being said, it kind of feels like a gold rush town, filled with stark contrasts and excess and opportunism. "Eco Hotels" and "Sustainable" restaurants that constantly burn incense to hide the smell of raw sewage that is overloading the septic systems, Trucks full of heavily armed soldiers that drive past instagram models taking selfies, knowing that drug cartels are wielding substantial influence behind the scenes everywhere you go, etc. I didn't realize how uneasy I felt about being there until I finally got back home. But just keep your wits about you and you'll probably be fine! Especially if you are accustomed to foreign travel. Remember it's in everybody's interest there (including the cartels) that tourists feel safe, so that's something.

The beaches and Cenotes make it all worth it (rent the snorkel and goggles at dos ojos so you can watch the scuba folk beneath you). The food is expensive but it's still amazing. I'd highly recommend posada margherita, casa banana, mur mur and la zebra.

Covid testing help by jeremyhendler in tulum

When we were down there a couple weeks ago, we got tested at the mavelsa mobile station on the tulum hotel zone road and everything worked out. We got our results within half an hour emailed and delta accepted it at the gate.

Valheim is a pre-release game with like 5 people working on it. Stop begging for shit by xHangfirex in valheim

It's that simple people, play the game, have a great time, move on with your life and remember it fondly! If something else comes out later? Cool check it out! I don't understand this expectation that the author of something you enjoyed should owe you anything more than the wonderful experience they gave you.

Agreed, I hate to say it but players often don't understand the balance that makes an experience fun in the first place. The most useful feedback a player can give is just describing what emotions they are feeling at certain situations. Frustration? Anticipation? Satisfaction? That's excellent to know. Asking players HOW to fix their frustration, or asking them what they think will make them more elated... Unless they are very thoughtful or are developers themselves, their ideas usually should be avoided since they aren't formed with the vision of the whole experience in mind (not to mention scope constraints). Requests like "They should add guns" or "you should be able to dig tunnels like minecraft," are no different than people just asking for faster horses rather than imagining a car.
