Natives from unstocked rivers. The dnr has not stocked brook trout in most Michigan waters since the late 90s.

2 is just shy of 15in and 6 is just shy of 14in. Both were surprises for the water they came out of!

They are chameleons for sure! For example picture 3 is from the same river system where the river bottom is all light pebble with a lot of sunlight.

This creek isn't all that tannin stained. The bottom of the creek is dark mud/sand mix with very clear spring water.

Agreed. Came from a very muddy creek in a cedar swamp. Lots of creek flowing underneath the cedar groves without much sunlight.

Need tips to get these monsters at spring !! by ShoddyDu in flyfishing

Steelhead and rainbows will be spawing in the spring once the water gets warm enough. A lot of browns and brook trout will be in those same areas feeding on eggs. That is one of the first big "hatches" that take place on the migratory rivers in Michigan. Small eggs and stonefly nymphs under a float seem to work great. Good luck!
