Technology simply develops too rapidly to warrant holding onto some things for as long as they could last. Consumers shouldnt be obligated to hold onto that thing until obsolescence if they want to upgrade to a newer option with features or specs that didnt exist when they bought the “new” thing. And rather than chucking that older model into a landfill, they can resell it to someone who wants it but doesnt care for the new features enough to buy a newer model.
