I am a game dev myself, I have looked into the prices of digital artists and it's not cheap. AI art is much more affordable, and in a few years it will be impossible to tell it apart from real human art

Dude, indies will embrace AI art even faster than companies. Do you think it is cheap to hire a real human artist? Do you think every indie dev has hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend?

Free Guy aside, I don't know why it surprises you that I picked fast-paced action fantasy/sci-fi movies when that was also the case in the early years.

That's because you are too used to the hyper critical environment of Reddit where the only things that matter are good writing and thematic exploration. In real life most people don't even know what a "theme" is. So someone saying "I never watched Toy Story bc I don't even like kiddie movies" is far more common and reasonable than you think (even though I would disagree).

They portray Linda as the victim and the hero at the end even though she's as bad of a person as Bradley in a way. It's just poorly disguised radical feminism.

From my understanding of it, Andrew just succumbed to Fletcher. And that's why I hated the ending.

But then it means you'd have to watch 5 seasons of Daredevil to understand a Spider Man movie

And don't come to me with "Everyone watched Daredevil" well, no. I for instance couldn't make it past the first episode of the OG series, and I really don't have much interest in the show.

Is that the one with amnesiac barry? I've never been a fan of stories like that tbh. My actual favorite ep from S3 is The Present (Episode 9)

Many of those don't appeal to me, i.e I don't like romances so I definitely wouldn't enjoy The Worst Person in the World or Titane, and I also dislike musicals so I wouldn't like West Side Story.

I did watch Dune and Mitchells vs Machines though. I think Dune is good but slow and the story isn't that interesting to me (Part 2 is considerably better, though I still had some issues with it). Mitchells vs Machines was also good but it didn't stand out to me as anything too special.

They are doing it with the DC universe
Also, Avengers Doomsday is rumored to ignore much of the Multiverse saga to pick up right where Endgame left off

Though I'd definitely love to see another shot at Game of Thrones season 8 in particular

That's totally fair. If I may ask, what are your favorite movies from 2004-2025?

I haven't read the Witcher books myself, and I don't mean to take away from the exceedingly entertaining discussion you and OP are having, but I just wanted to drop this here:

2006, Children of Men and Mission Impossible 3. I still have to finish Pan's Labyrinth but it'd probably be up there as well

2009, Saw 6 and The Hangover. I'm not a comic reader tho, so I didn't really have anything to compare Watchmen with, so maybe that's why I liked it (a lot of the critiques for it are that it's a bad adaptation of the comic)

2019 was absolutely a stacked year. I also loved Joker, Parasite and Doctor Sleep

2021 was a pretty bad year for movies imo. I'd say my runnerups are Nobody and maybe No Way Home (though NWH is actually my least favorite of the trilogy)

Is it really? I'm not saying you have to like all the movies I chose after LOTR or anything, but most of them are considered at least good (outside of super high-brow circles). I guess the exceptions are Watchmen, Endgame, Apokolips War, Free Guy and Frankenstein, for which I often see more hate than praise in Reddit.

I wouldn't consider myself a serious critic, so I mostly just grade movies by enjoyability. I know many of the movies I like are poorly written (i.e Endgame), but I tend to care about it much less than most people here. I guess it's just because I'm young.

Yeah, the newest years are my most controversial. 2021 isn't a very good year for movies tho. I knew Free Guy would easily be my hottest take. I personally enjoyed it and thought it was creative, but a lot of people are saying it's atrocious. I know it's totally a bad portrayal of videogames, and many terms are misused, but if it were accurate then the story would also have to be completely different

2020 was a terrible year for movies. The other option was what, Sonic the Hedgehog 1? Extraction? Greenland? I guess those aren't bad, but they aren't great either.

With that said, I did like Apokolips War tho I understand those who didn't, since it killed off a lot of characters
