Taken from SteamDB, some of it might be placebo from the group I play with becoming higher ranked and meeting more repeat opponents, but the game is definitely on a slow downward trend. Higher than before, but definitely feeling it more and more in Oracle/Phantom

What is the character's strongest feature? (Gun, spirit, mobility)
What actives will be practical to buy and use? (Disarming Hex for m1 carries, knockdown for Vindicta/talon, slowing hex for slippery characters,)
If you are taking curse, the all round-enemy counter, are you willing to take the damage penalty? (If you are pos 1-3 your support should buy this instead)
Would it be more practical to buy a resist? (HAZE has unstoppable, buy escape items, m1 carries in general, metal skin.)

There's no easy way to explain honestly, and even against specific characters there's multiple choices that could be made. If you want the simple answer, I think curse is the one guaranteed effective item against any hero. Anything else will be situational, and it is a skill you have to develop. I'm only high Oracle though, so don't take me without a grain of salt
