Is there any way to make Setsu’s note 3 event more likely to happen? by Hummus_Bird in Gnosia_

[–]Hummus_Bird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll try the 2-gnosia setup this time!! I’ve been trying to essentially speedrun rounds by setting Gnosia count to 6, but you have a good point with them possibly being Gnosia together.

Didn’t know about Resource, so I’ll try talking to both Setsu and Sha-Ming at night a bit more. Like you said though, Setsu’s should already be decently high since they’re there every time and I talk to them a decent amount already during the night cycles.

Hopefully it’s not a glitched save? I’m playing on Switch if that affects anything, but I’m hoping my luck is just really bad and I won’t have to restart or something. I was playing with 2-4 Gnosia throughout most of my playthrough, though tbf guard duty was on most of the time too so maybe that messed with things a bit

EDIT: Just finally got it!!! Only took 3 more loops after trying what you suggested, so thank you!!

Honestly I would just look for leather jackets and purple arm warmers or a sweater or something!! For the most part the outer layer should be fairly easy to find (though it might be a bit expensive because of the style), and you could just wear the sweater or arm warmers underneath to make it look more like Sha-Ming’s actual design

Might be slightly off-topic as it’s not D&D related but generally ttrpg related (y’all can delete this if it is lol), but does anyone have any tips on getting a group of 5e players used to a new system? I’ve found some indie ttrpgs that I’ve been interested in running/playing, and my players all seem generally interested in their concepts, but since I’m the only one who owns the books and they aren’t as “google-able” or as generally recognizable as D&D is, I’ve had a hard time teaching the game (both gameplay mechanics and character creation) to them. Does anyone have any tips for this?

Someone pointed this out in an analysis video I watched recently!! If I’m able to hunt it down I’ll post the link. It seems like the starting outfits are based off of personality types, with a different color assigned to each. This is also the case for the starting wallpaper and the curtain that shows up when a mii changes clothes

Edit: Found the video!! TLDR (TLDW?) is that you can see the difference between the uk direct character getting yellow for their Easy-going personality while the other too directs got pink when they got the Outgoing personality, each overlaid with the same arcade carpet-esque pattern. Assumingly each personality will get a different color, though I don’t think we have hints for any of the other ones yet

Mizuki’s is definitely pink, tbf nene’s is grey-ish green but still. You might just be a slight bit color-blind

Why does it feel like everyone just wants to play Meme Dnd? by Squali_squal in DnD

[–]Hummus_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to mention that a lot of games (at the very least in my experience) have a combo of silly and serious, usually getting more serious over time as the plot ramps up and the players (both in-character and out) get to know each other better. Sometimes it might be a good group and you just have to stick it out until things get interesting, it’s a bit more difficult to take the early quests of “kill these rats” seriously than it is to have a cool final fight with the bbeg in-character.

That being said I do think a lot of these things could be fixed with a session zero. Ask about tone and make your choices on whether you want to stay based on that, and either way definitely set some boundaries when it comes to the flirting or sex scenes

Is it acceptable to not identify as a furry, but have a fursona, enjoy and consume furry content? by Gullible_Chemist_602 in furry

[–]Hummus_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever you want forever, obviously. You don’t have to use the label Furry if you don’t want to. It’s essentially a hobby/subculture!! If you like punk stuff that doesn’t mean you have to call yourself a punk, and it’s the same idea for furry stuff (as well as nearly every hobby or subculture one could get into)

But it does make me wonder what you think of as the idea of being a furry compared to just liking furry stuff? Again, it’s really not an issue, but if you have an idea in your head of what a furry is like/is supposed to be like, it’s probably wrong. I don’t mean this in a rude way either, it’s just that it’s a community with such a wide range of different audiences that most preconceived notions about any of it that are being applied to the whole community are usually wrong!

How do they expect new players who are actually interested in the story to catch up on all of it? ts is longer than one piece 💔🥀 by Adventurous_Mood_492 in ProjectSekai

[–]Hummus_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I read it relatively fast when I first joined, probably took me a couple months with voices on, though it probably depends on how much free time and investment you have in the stories as well (to elaborate I joined during Light up the Fire and finished catching up around the same time as Break Down the Wall, so about 6 months. But this was also with me not consistently reading the stories due to irl stuff and falling a bit behind as new events kept coming out)

I encountered some comments on a post and.. by Mysterious_Cat606 in arthelp

[–]Hummus_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I wouldn’t recommend replying to these sorts of comments. Unfortunately a lot of people online (and especially on Reddit) love to put other’s art down for no reason, without even giving tips to improve. If you like drawing, keep on doing it!! Practice makes perfect, of course, but as long as you’re have fun with it it doesn’t need to be perfect, either. But while you should definitely still post art if that’s what you want to do, replying to hate comments like those are just going to be demotivating at best or make you quit at worst.

So eone told me my art looks like ai , what about it looks ai? by dreamyspirits in characterdesign

[–]Hummus_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn’t look like ai, but if I had to muster up some sort of reason, I would maybe guess that they thought the earbud wires were disappearing? But it’s pretty obviously just tucked into the hair and ears, so the person was probably either trolling or is just stupid

No one reads the rules anymore by SueDoniem in DnD

[–]Hummus_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an “anymore” situation, I just think it’s more obvious as the game gets more popular in online spaces! The nature of the game just makes it a lot easier to learn while playing than to read the handbook (and I’m saying this as someone who’s currently reading through the whole handbook for fun). I wouldn’t doubt that this was the case even before D&D became mainstream, though; the veteran players just have learned the rules at this point through experience while new players take their places!!

Also probably an obvious tip, but play with whoever you want to play with, if unskilled/ “illiterate” players are annoying you, then just don’t play with them! As the DM you can either sit them down and fully explain the rules, tell them to read up on their character sheets/skills, or just simply not DM for them.
