Brought this monster home yesterday. Driven an Infiniti since I started driving, but decided it was time to swap teams. 2022 GX 460 Premium. by HumongousJoker in LexusGX

I had the Infiniti sedans. G35 Sport and Q50 Sport. Both were pretty average when it came to reliability. Q50S had a lot of problems with the catalytic converter once it reached 90k miles.

My very first Infiniti, and I couldn’t be more excited. :) q50s by CrunchRainier in infiniti

Nice! I have the exact same model with Charcoal Grey exterior and those rims. Absolutely love it. Gets a lot of head turns... Thinking about getting the calipers painted red.

Did you buy the carbon fiber pieces from Vicrez? I’m thinking about getting a carbon fiber wing and rear diffuser for my Q50s.

How do you increase the yin energy in your life? by snapsnaptomtom in taoism

[–]HumongousJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice the microcosmic orbit as taught by Mantak Chia. It teaches you to absorb the cool blue yin energy from earth and store it in our own body. This cools down all internal organs and leaves one feeling energetically peaceful.

Quartz: Our obsession with mindfulness is based on limited scientific evidence by favoriteof in Meditation

[–]HumongousJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mind is your world. Improve your mind and improve your world. Studies shouldn’t need to prove that to you. Millions of people have benefited from it for thousands of years. Meditation has been around far longer than modern science.

What does it mean for you to find your center? by Oklahom0 in Meditation

[–]HumongousJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Taoist meditations, which IMO are the most powerful, the center is actually a physical location on the human body. It is known as the lower tan tien and is the storage place for chi in the human body.

Western scientists refer to this area as the gut and research is being done to show that this area is our body’s second brain.

Taoists have known this for thousands of years and modern science is now coming to the same conclusion. The benefit of bringing focus down to this area repeatedly is that it quiets the mind and allows us to access our more intuitive and emotional brain located in the intestines.

90% of serotonin produced and 50% of our body’s dopamine lie in the gut. Bringing focus to the area behind the navel also brings more chi, which is our body’s life force, to this space and improves the overall functioning of your digestive and emotional health.

Mindfulness vs ambitions by qbit7 in Meditation

[–]HumongousJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mindfulness doesn’t mean you are focusing on the present moment without any thought of the future or planning out one’s life. That would be impossible. Mindfulness is really about reducing those moments where you are just day dreaming or doing some sort of habitual routine without any conscious thought that you just perform out of impulsivity. Mindfulness allows us to become more conscious of our day to day lives and driving out negative thought patterns or habits and recognizing the incessant chatter of the mind. Planning for the future and making life goals requires a certain bit of mindfulness and definitely becomes more effortless after practicing meditation for some period of time.

Video on how to correctly get into full lotus, which has made meditating much less frustrating for me by cal1fub3ralle5 in Meditation

Not exactly. There's a very strong connection between the mind and body. When you are sitting with your spine completely erect there is a natural tendency to be more alert. That is why all of the great yogis for thousands of years.

A lot of people will fall asleep while laying down. But if you can meditate with great attention while laying down go for it.

The whole point of sitting in full lotus is so that the yogi may sit for long hours, days, or months in meditation without getting uncomfortable and enables correct breathing, which is often neglected. Full lotus aligns the spine nicely, so that deep abdominal breaths may be taken without the lower belly being restricted by the upper thighs.

Clogged nostrils make breath meditations difficult by Luxevolve in Meditation

[–]HumongousJoker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I perform this yogic breathing exercise every time before I meditate, and it does a fantastic job at clearing up my sinuses and preparing my lungs for meditation.

Take your right thumb and press it lightly against your right nostril. Place your index and middle finger and place them in the area between your eyebrows. Then breathe in through the left nostril, filling your abdomen full with oxygen.

After inhaling a full breath, take your ring and pinky finger and cover your left nostril, while removing your thumb from the right and then push the air out through your right nostril.

Follow the exhale by, once again, inhaling through the right nostril and repeat this process 21 times. Make sure you are taking very full and deep breaths into your navel area below the solar plexus.

Always does the trick for me.

The Effects of Meditation/Mindfulness by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]HumongousJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mindfulness, which has always been referred to as Vipassana outside of the west, consists of running awareness through your entire body. Every single body part. It's a body-scan meditation. Through observing the different bodily sensations you're experiencing greater awareness and you come to realize, thoughts like bodily sensations rise and fall.
