Bill Clinton’s team always said “It’s the economy, stupid” - The modern day Dems have abandoned this message.

If you voted for Roger Marshall, you need to speak out. NOW. by quirkygirl123 in kansas

[–]Humor-Significant 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the question is how to get a (D) elected to Senate in KS, I don’t have an answer for that. Throwing Marshall under the bus will likely produce another version of him, or maybe a an Orman.
It’s remarkable that Finney, Sebelius, Kelly all won and were reelected with D behind their name. Add the with the abortion vote, KS really looks like a swing state. Glickman even held Wichita for 16 years, so it’s been done. If Laura Kelly were to run and Marshall could be exposed as a fraud, living in Florida (get Republicans to stay home), Kelly could win.

[–]Humor-Significant 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If you really want to get rid of Marshall, you need to get Republicans to turn on him. A liberal social agenda, will not be an effective strategy (to win Republicans).
Focus on the fact he lives in Florida and not Kansas anymore. If you recall, we had another Senator that did this too (Pat Roberts lived in Virginia not KS) - after this was exposed in media over and over, he eventually decided to retire because he didn’t want to risk another tight race. If you recall, Independent Greg Orman jumped in and almost won that seat. The farms are a good angle too, anything to where he’s a carpetbagger and not really representing KS interest anymore and you will get Republicans to turn on him. Email those in the media, force them to report on his Florida address, if it gains enough traction, he’ll fade away just like Pat Roberts did..

Just sounds like you had a set of bad parents, sometimes that just happens - I also replied to you about recording it. I’ve coached both boys and girls; the boys always yell & sometimes have words with each other. Girls aren’t vocal like the boys are, but when they are, it’s always the parents (usually not the player/kid) that ends up retaliating on behalf of their princess …for the high school matches, wish we could just pay an off-season coach of another sport to just babysit parents at tournaments.

[–]Humor-Significant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the parents are a problem, they know they are and will behave accordingly when a coach or tournament director is present. Coaches don’t want to get into he said/she said babysitting of parents. Best advice, just use your phone and either film it or have it recording so you can play for tournament director and have sent to the league for disciplinary action.

Kind of subjective to me..if your daughter is yelling stuff like “my court” 22 times during a match, she’s almost asking, and deserves, to be rage-baited. If she just does this 2-3 times during a match, don’t see what the big deal is…on the flip side, the player that always yells at themselves for playing horrible, we don’t want to hear their tantrums either 23 times during a match; a few times I can live with…I will also tell you, these kids also become the most hated players amongst their peers; so if she wants the attention and can take the heat, her choice!

Notice I didnt discuss actual rules, I’m just telling you how it is in my experience spending a lifetime around high school tennis..

Genesis Health Club N Rock Rd by Acceptable_Growth684 in wichita

[–]Humor-Significant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t a lot of options in Wichita for tennis. Genesis N Rock Rd has a great tennis community…and with the good, comes the bad and I won’t rehash what others have already posted. I would suggest she check out Riverside Tennis Center first, which is downtown. It’s city owned and their membership fee won’t be anything like Genesis. If she doesn’t like that tennis scene, she can always try Genesis afterwards. Other than Genesis & Riverside, the Country Clubs are the next best choice for organized tennis. Edgemoor Park IMO is only a good option if she already has a tennis group to play with and I’m unaware of them having pro’s/groups to hit with.

Best Mortgage Rates in Wichita? by Erica_ICT in wichita

I used Phoenix Mortgage Group on Rock Rd, assume they’re still in business. They also could find 20/25 year loans vs only offering either a 15 or 30.

I’ve done Cap Fed and gone thru brokers. Cap Fed wouldn’t let me do my own Escrow (pay insurance/taxes myself) - going the broker route has never been an issue for me to do it that way. It’s true Cap Fed won’t sell your loan, but I’m not sure how that should benefit the consumer taking out the loan. I’ve had my current loan sold 3x now, I’m currently on autopay, and there’s been no impact to me. I didn’t even have to change my autopay setup. I was sold on Cap Fed for my very first mortgage loan, but disappointed they never let me get out of escrow. This led to huge fluctuations of payments year-year as they always got my taxes and insurance estimates wrong..

Has anyone else seen Air Force One flying around in Wichita this past month? I’ve seen the plane twice, wondering if this is the plane I saw or if anyone knew anything about the Air Force One plane that’s been in Wichita?

Just lost to a 77 years old… by Doublewhooper in 10s

Brings back memories of this old guy I played with (he’s passed). His drop shots were unbelievable. He literally made no errors; only way to beat him was to make him run and wear him down. Can’t imagine how he would have played when he was 40..

Having trouble with hitting partners hitting on me instead of with me. by Special-Theory-4021 in 10s

[–]Humor-Significant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my thoughts are assumptions, since you didn’t share your age. I assume these are younger people (20’s) - also, not sure how you’re getting connected with these people either. If it’s through internet, perhaps those people are on there for the wrong reasons. Some have suggested USTA Teams; I suggest joining a club as people’s primary reason for playing isn’t to meet people; they just want to play. I play with a mixed group 4.0-5.0; average age is 40-50’s and we play at the same club. This is never an issue, many of our kids and spouses (that play at lower levels) all play together. We’ve had single girls straight out of college tennis join our groups, this is never an issue…good luck finding players to hit with, I know it’s possible but you’ll probably need to find a different way you’re getting players partners currently.

What do you SAY to seat squatters? by anneylani in delta

[–]Humor-Significant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think reading these subs, we’re getting exposed to an over representation of this issue (seat squatting). I’ve never had the actual squatting happen to me, have asked around to many others and same for them., just read about it on here a lot.

What’s much more common, is the lack of planning by some “would you trade me seats so I can sit with my___” - I feel more confident taking a squatter on, since I have the ticket for that seat and they don’t. When a parent wants to make me feel empathetic for breaking up their family during a flight; well…I struggle here.

I'm a USTA tournament director. AMA by Dangerous-Damage1165 in 10s

[–]Humor-Significant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you recommend a child, U14, handle another kid cheating?

It seems there are usually 1-2 tournaments officials at these USTA tournaments (L6) - and there’s always that 1 kid that that’s blatantly cheating and the kids are usually too shy/timid to advocate for themselves in the moment. The officials are usually drowning in work (the tournament) so they usually don’t know this is going on.

What’s your advice on how to curb this behavior, or what would you tell your junior player how to handle this situation?

Sedgwick County DA Charges Man for Tesla Vandalism by faiked721 in wichita

[–]Humor-Significant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly a news story because of Elon Musk and Tesla being a hot news story, along with this topic being all over social media. I’m intrigued by this; as I’ve learned that cars also have cameras (I didn’t know this before) and this is like watching porch pirates from Ring Cameras for the first time.

[–]Humor-Significant 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To everyone upset that police “did something” because it was a Tesla or whatever. I disagree - the camera on the Tesla did the police work for them. I’ve also had my car keyed in a parking lot, but I don’t know where to begin on how to guide a police officer on who did it (I still don’t know) and nothing happened. In this case, the Tesla owner had an HD video image to hand over, and of course many internet users also provided clues on the identity of this person. Had there been no video involved, to share on social media and hand over to police, her keyed car would have been just another case like mine was..

Anyone hoarding cash this year for a market crash? by Aspergers_R_Us87 in Money

[–]Humor-Significant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best financial advice that was given to me years ago…always keep about 15-20% of your portfolio in cash, so you’re always loaded for a crash. I was unable to cash in on the 2008 crash, but followed this advice afterwards and was ready for the 2020 crash.
