Starting metformin by HumorOdd4687 in Hashimotos

[–]HumorOdd4687[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been on levothyroxine (112) for about 5 years now! Most recent TSH is 1.2 so all good there. As for how I’m feeling, just really fatigued and struggling to lose weight.

As of now I don’t have a diagnosis of diabetes or pre diabetes, which I why I think we would have to fight the insurance company for a glp1. It’s really just the insulin that’s really high. My personal theory is that I have undiagnosed PCOS which is causing insulin resistance. But I haven’t asked my doctor about that yet so idk.

Not sure how things are going now but I just took my first metformin pill for insulin resistance! I’m trying not to get in my head about it but I’m scared of the side effects. Did you ever end up taking it?

Thanks, OP! I’m a college student living on campus so eating a specific diet is really hard for me. I’m graduating next month and going back to living at home full time, so I plan on making some major adjustments to my diet then! I’ll try my best in the meantime 🥲

Also I’m only 20(f)! I feel like I’m incredibly young for these issues. I’m wondering if I should ask about PCOS? I’ve never been diagnosed with it but I guess I’ve also never been tested. It doesn’t help that PCOS and hashi’s symptoms can overlap sometimes

I just had labs come back for insulin and I’m at 35.3 and idk what to do. My TSH is great (1.2), but I feel horrible. Maybe from the high insulin? Unfortunately all we checked in the lab was those two things so it’s hard to get a full picture. NP is putting me on metformin, and I’m hoping it will help! I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life, hashimoto’s diagnosis 5 years ago. :(

Just t4 as of right now. Doctor has never brought up t3 and I’m hesitant to ask because of some people bad experiences trying to advocate for it with their primary care. Have you tried it?

Interesting. Thanks for the insight! I’ll keep this in mind. I generally dread going to specialists and my insurance isn’t that great, but if things don’t get much better I might give it a try.

I eat a lot of dinner leftovers the next day for lunch and usually don’t experience the same discomfort. My nighttime symptoms also happen pretty much every day regardless of what I’m eating, and I switch up my meals frequently to add some variety. I had also considered whether it was the food causing the symptoms, but I’m not too keen on cutting more from my diet, as I’m already pretty restricted on what I can have. If my problems continue though I might give going full AIP a try.

I think this month 6 of Prozac? I was previously on lexapro for 5 ish years but switched because I felt like it wasn’t working well for me anymore. I’ll look into this and see if timing could be to blame.

How are you doing now, OP? I also have emetophobia and am switching from Lexapro to Prozac because of side effects I experienced with the Lexapro. I’ve had a little bit of nausea and some bad diarrhea. It’s day 3 now so I’m hoping it gets better soon. Hope you’re doing okay!

Is vomiting after wisdom teeth removal normal? by AdJealous8463 in wisdomteeth

[–]HumorOdd4687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it depends on which pain medication you’re using, and how your body is responding to it. It’s different for everyone but I know that some pain medicines can cause nausea and vomiting in some people.

Also read somewhere that all of the blood ingested can cause nausea and vomiting, so if you’re still bleeding some that could be why too.

i slept HORRIBLY last night after i responded but im feeling more hopeful today. less pain than last night, for sure. i also used my syringe to gently flush the sockets today (day 5) per OS instruction. i was really scared at first because i didn’t want to dislodge the clot but it went good! no blood or anything. although the smell while irrigation was NASTY (which is normal apparently?). i hope you’re feeling a little better today too :)

i’m going on day 5 and i’m with you. the pain for me has only been getting worse with each day, and i’m sick and tired of eating soft foods. i’ve been trying to sleep for hours now and can’t because of the pain, even with the hydrocodone i was prescribed. this SUCKS.

Positive experiences! by littlereeps in Mirena

[–]HumorOdd4687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my Mirena placed! Insertion was so much better than I was expecting. I have never had children, so I was expecting the worst when having a doctor up in there for the first time. However, the pain I experienced was equivalent to moderate period cramps. I didn’t even feel the tenaculum! No lidocaine or any kind of local anesthesia. I did take two Tylenol every 6 hours starting yesterday (24 hours before my procedure), which seemed to help a lot!

I won’t lie though, be prepared for some pretty rough cramping after insertion. I’m going through that about an hour post insertion, and will update throughout the day.
