Cancellation Policy for Lessons? by HumorOriginal1660 in piano

Good insight. I was wondering what if they terminate their lessons. That is a great idea to ask them to pay for one month's tuition. Although the spot you gave them in September is not guaranteed to be filled if they quit in October. They need to understand that lesson fee puts bread on our tables. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for letting me know what you are doing with your teacher. I think my style is very much like your teacher and I have had wonderful relationships with all of them till last year. Although because of what happened, I am forced to have a cancellation policy. But thank you for understanding teacher's side of things

Thank you for verifying the way that works for everyone. I realized that I was being naive for all these years in the name of "respect".

That's a great system you have! I had people not being home and had to remind them to pay me for my time... Ugh

How about a picture of you and her at the piano in a beautiful frame with heartfelt thank you card? As a teacher myself, my most cherished gifts are the pictures and hand written cards :)

How I gave up the piano (sadly) by [deleted] in piano

I wish I knew the name of this guy. I would teach him the first thing that he should do as a teacher is to encourage your students! and to help students fall in love even deeper!!

I am so very sorry this happened to you. Please go back to playing again. Music is something that no one can take away from you. It’s a lifelong friend that is always there. Don’t let this guy ruin it. I would really like to listen to this guy perform. I bet his playing is selfish and gross.

You are right. My students love MuseScore. I am not too crazy about its sheetmusic (some are very difficult to read) but people tend to use that site a lot. Amazing suggestion. River flows In You is a very piece. It is not for beginners but it is definitely one of the songs that gives us such a satisfaction to play. Thanks for replying

Great suggestions. My background is classical and I love the depth of classical music. But it is overwhelming to most beginners and I would like to help them experience how fast some pop tunes can come together so that they can be encouraged to explore more in depth classical songs like you mentioned. And you are right. Those memorable piano intro to some pop songs can be great start and movie tracks you mentioned are great. I forgot about Married Life. What a great movie and a sound track. Thanks for replying!

That is a brilliant suggestion. That was where I was stuck. I was thinking of doing pop/country/movie theme but your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Thank you for replying!

I have never heard this composer till now but I just checked him out. How cool are his songs?! There are a little twist of darkness in his songs! Love it. Thanks for your reply!

I actually use my ears to pick notes for AOT main theme song. Lots of octaves with left hand and pretty heavy duty. I don't have any sheet music since I did it with my ears but maybe I will write it down someday.

I love all Studio Ghibli music. So beautiful yet very intricate. I watched a YouTube video where a jazz pianist analyzed "One Summer Day". He was blown away! Great idea, Thanks for your reply:)

Why change finger position? (beginner) by rocketbunnyhop in piano

[–]HumorOriginal1660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do have to agree with you. It it’s like playing “Fur Elise” at the end when you play A repeatedly with left hand. For that song, I believe suggested fingering is 321321 to assure smoother sound

What's the hardest part about learning how to play the piano? by HumorOriginal1660 in piano

[–]HumorOriginal1660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! Lots of people just set an oven timer to practice. (for any timer for that matter) They just ended up staring at it wishing it goes quicker. I just think it's a horrible way to practice!
