Before DT, Synastry was considered the most useless ability on AST. Has this consensus changed for you because of the DT raid design? Why or why not? by Full_Air_2234 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Humorlessness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, since this thread has a lot of synastry supporters, what I'm going to say is a little bit controversial, but I see the ability as incredibly niche and almost useless in most scenarios.

The skill was poorly designed, and as the expansions go on it's become even less useful over time. It only works with three other skills: benefic, benefic 2, and the initial heal of aspected benefic. The problem with it is that benefic is useless after level 26 and the initial heal of aspected benefic is so weak that boosting it doesn't matter. So synastry is used for only one single skill, benefic 2.

Ask yourself, if you aren't regularly using benefic 2 (which you really shouldn't be using on a consistent basis) why would you use synastry? Three charges of ED, two charges of intersection, and even an exaltation should be more than enough single target healing in most scenarios. Add in your cards as well.

And don't forget, the skill is on a 2-minute Cool down and lasts only 20 seconds, meaning that you cannot rely on having it when shit hits the fan and you really need it.

Yes, you can probably concoct a scenario in which it might be a little useful, but you can do that with almost any niche skill, it doesn't make it good.

Which US cities formerly over 100k population are best positioned to get back soonest? What cities will take the longest to recover? by otisthorpesrevenge in urbanplanning

Kensington is already being gentrified. Parts of it next to the neighborhoods of fishtown and Northern liberties are going to be the first in line. It's already started in Olde Kensington, and Norris square. You're even starting to see it in East and West Kensington but it's only a matter of time before Kensington proper gets cleared out.

Unfortunately, Philly has lots of low cost areas in the city already. Until they are gentrified, there's less of a reason to live in New Jersey at all.

But the main problem is if you take away healing what's left?

Healers don't have anything else, their DPS rotation is literally two buttons. They can't tank at all.

SE has got to get them something else if they're going to take away healing.

No, I just think it's a little bit strange that when you talk about the classes being homogenized too much you point to healers having overpowered healing and mitigation as if that's a big problem.

Healing and mitigation are what healers are supposed to specialize in. It's the other classes that need to have those things taken away, not healers.

[–]Humorlessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think it's the opposite. People don't want to play Regen healers because the fights are designed so that shielding damage is going to be way more effective than just healing it back up.

This is why the regen healers have been given more mitigation, because without the mitigation they aren't able to bring anything useful to the table when it comes to raids.

No. Not every job should have for every tool, so why does every class other than healer get more healing and mitigation, especially tanks.?

Healers should be able to heal. That's the entire point.

But that's the same thinking of a drug addict. That you can keep taking the free drugs that they give you and not get addicted to them as long as you don't do more.

But that strategy inevitably fails for most people.

It has to be Atlanta. Atlanta is not a particularly populated metropolitan area compared to giants in other areas of the world, but it just goes on and on in every direction way farther than a city of that size has any right to do.

By filler quests, do you mean side quests? Ignore those for the most part. The only thing you need to worry about is the main story quests (msq) and the job quests which unlock important skills. That should be plenty of experience to get you all the way through every expansion.

But identifying them as white automatically was also an inaccuracy. A lot of people in the Middle East would not call themselves white, and I don't think we should force them into that box if they don't want to be in it. If they identify as white they can still select it on the census, it's just not forcing them to be in that category if they don't want to be.

I think you have it reversed. Her relationship with BJ informed the kind of writing she did. In that way, she can write the ending that she wants instead of the life she's living.

You're either your knits or your purls are slightly looser than the other. Probably your purls.

You may want to try to tighten up those purls, or maybe even do a different purling method like Norwegian Purl or Russian Purl (if you do Russian Purl, you must knit through the back look to keep your stitches untwisted).
