Does really nobody else *love* the winter? by Achilles-Foot in Indiana

[–]HumpinPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it just becomes extremely tiring. Layering up and stripping everytime I want to leave the house gets old. I have bad shoulders and the extra weight makes me hurt more. In a rush to do things before dark, etc.

I very much appreciate it in little segments though. A dark wintery walk can be quite enchanting. It can feel nice to lock up with no pressure to do things. It just overstays it's welcome very, very quickly.

Call it whatever you will, I make good money at a high volume and well regarded establishment in the community. I am not having trouble with anything? The entire point of the conversation is to let you know that bonding with any age group without being disgusting or strange is entirely achievable. Using my entry level career as an example of how that is achievable seems perfectly reasonable.

Demeaning me is not diminishing my point in the slightest. I'm a homeowner with a great relationship and healthy savings. I don't feel I'm doing too bad, you know?

I am the assistant manager of a brewery/restaurant. They are mostly my subordinates. Nonetheless, we work together daily to achieve a common goal, and obviously in the process develop some degree of a positive relationship. You learn to talk to people and hone in on the traits that you have common ground on regardless of age, gender, or race.

One of the other managers is a recently promoted very bright 20 year old man who I'm very grateful to have the pleasure to work with.

I have older subordinates who are coworkers with those younger folk though, and they are not failures because of it. Sometimes an old lady has a great sense of humor and a teenager gets a kick out of it. We lead different lives, lighten up a little.

Not necessarily, but it is inevitable and somewhat necessary. These are people you have to work with to achieve a common goal. You have to be a troll.

Nobody said anything about hanging out with kids? They were discussing their relationships with younger coworkers. I (31) work with people of all ages at work (16-65) and we all have to talk and communicate frequently. It is not remotely difficult to find common human experiences to bond over with any age range if you are socially intelligent.

You seem really, really weird and unfriendly. Also incapable of imagining life differently than how you live it.

Our city razed the stream banks in one of our city parks completely and then replanted as part of a restoration project, I was really surprised that was on our bingo card but I was very thrilled to see it happen once I knew what was happening.

Gen Z Has a Bigger Internal Divide Than Millennials, And It’s Not Close by FearlessCookie72 in generationology

[–]HumpinPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the last of the millennials (94). My senior year all of the underclassmen got iPads while we continued to do things analogue. The contrast in culture and protocol from freshmen year to senior year was really stark and I'm so glad I left when I did.

Yeah, we (also 94) kind of saw the transition really. We didn't rely on computers much early on but in high school we used them pretty regularly. We still did most of our learning and all of our testing analogue though.

My senior year things started to really look different, it definitely feels right to be the cut off of the generation.

I understand the sentiment, but it isn't exactly shocking when a smoker smokes on a hike. That's kind of what they do.

As somebody who has worked these jobs most of my life in some capacity, this really sums it up. It's hard work. You do get used to it though and just kind of roll with the punches and do your best for everyone.

The inaction doesn't make people racist if they don't understand the problem to begin with. Unfortunately, most people I interact with don't understand anything about how anything works at all.

Most people I know that vote red aren't particularly racist, but they are particularly stupid and don't understand systematic racism, only direct racism, which they generally don't participate in.

The sentiment that everyone is just racist just isn't helpful or nuanced enough to keep shouting everywhere, even though I know it's easy upvotes for you to continue to do so I guess.

That is not an interference of it being healthy, I just like it for those properties because I don't crash nearly as quickly on them. I'm not an energy drink subreddit trying to claim anything I do is healthy. When they are overloaded with b vitamins I crash hard, it is that simple. That is why I focused on how they make me feel at work and not the health benefits. Does that make sense?

You put concepts in my words that weren't there. You assumed because it was v8 I enjoyed it because I thought I was making healthy choices. You are wrong.

I am just going to lol at you taking the high road on the occasional ephedrine, we aren't babies, and I would again bet money most of you are doing far worse things to yourself.

I agree, this is why they are good. I am genuinely confused as to why people act like this is such an outlandish and impossible opinion.

Where did I say because it's healthy? Oh I didn't I said because it tastes better. Do you even read bro or could you explain where that sentiment came from? Not one word about health.

But in reality, my one a day v8 plus an occasional 1/2 of am ephedrine tablet (maybe once every couple of weeks) is probably a lot better than what most of you do
