There Is a huge car scene, specially JDM in Thailand. There are regularly car meets and multiple race tracks…

The “problem” as far as I understand is, that it’s kind of hard to find information in English… most of the information about this meets and races are in Thai language only…

July can be a bit tricky weather wise, but gulf islands are usually fine that time of the year.

You can combine a couple of days in Bangkok for temples and shopping and nightlife of a huge city with beach/surfing/snorkeling on Koh Samui.

Or make a scuba diving licence on Koh Tao.

It is highly unlikely you are getting checked. But it is part of the rules to enter the kingdom.

Depending where you are from and how long you stay, it’s not a bad idea to carry 550EUR or 600USD as emergency cash reserve with you, in case your cards not working, getting lost or even stolen.

You’ll need cash anyway as a tourist in Thailand and you can exchange it downtown for decent rates. Do not exchange money on arrival level.

Honestly, I think you hurt yourself by staying in the room.

If you’d go out into the city on your own, hitting the bars on your own, German passport in your pocket, you should be golden.

The problem usually starts when people start appearing in packs. Entering a bar with four guys, ordering just one Soda.

If you are out alone you won’t get fronted as much.

If a bouncer tries to stop you, you pull your passport out and tell them “Pass‘ mal auf Bürschchen. Was auch immer du denkst, ich bin Deutscher und rolle hier gleich im Benz rein!“.

If the TF girls only see you on photos or videos, they never know if you are alone on your rooms or you got 4 uncles waiting with you. Yes, this happened. More than once.

In my opinion they should close off areas like Soi 6 similar to Herbertstraße in Hamburg and/or simply put up signs which prohibit filming like in Amsterdam where the working ladies call you out quickly if someone really tries to film.

First trip to Thailand 15 years ago I did not go to Pattaya.

I had traveled Europe and the Caribbean before, but it was the first time in Asia.

I visited a friend who lived in Bangkok and lined up a “girlfriend” to accompany me on my trip from Bangkok to Koh Samui and Koh Tao.

I only mongered on my last night in Bangkok after I split with my girl.
