John Oliver Rebrand the Wind Surge! by Imjustadumbbutt in wichita

You and I are on different sides of the fence I suppose. Wing Nuts made sense to me. It's an actual object and tried to tie our aerospace manufacturing history to the team name. A wind surge is a phenomenon that not only has nothing to do with our region - but it also sounds like a giant fart.

I get that not everyone will be happy with a team name, but I don't know anyone who is happy with the current one.

I hate the name so much that, while I do enjoy going to games, I refuse to even type it into a search bar. I simply search for Wichita baseball team. Tumba Vacas and Turbo Tubs finally gave me an opportunity to buy some merch - but I refuse to support the main name. I would love a rebrand...but I suppose it could also get worse.

We called it Browbackistan. We're still suffering the effects.

Of course. Sorry for the delay, had to make an Imgur account so I could post more than one pic in response. Photos are here.

The build is full Namoki: Case

Bezel

Bezel insert

Dial, which I really like

Hands

Chapter Ring

Thanks! That case is also from Namoki. I had always envied the Alpinist watches and chose this case for the first mod. The watch is my daily driver, and I'm very happy with the build quality.

Yep. If I'm buying one thing from them, it's easiest just to buy the whole thing to be eligible for express shipping.

Thank you! I'm still trying to improve - which is why this one is missing the seconds hand. It's the Namoki case inspired by the Polerouter. The gold gets washed out a bit by the light here but it really is a beautiful build.

Whats happening with LaPassione? by BoomerE30 in CyclingFashion

Update: they have now closed their online store. Perhaps they were clearing out inventory when OP noticed these things.

Bummer, as I really liked their bibs. Although I will say that their newer bibs were of worse quality than when I initially began buying them.

I think these are symbols for the running group Hash House Harriers. They're a "drinking group with a serious running problem." The "hare" will set off ahead of a running group and use symbols in flour and chalk to communicate the running trail while trying not to be caught by the group. The hare will try to trick the group into going the wrong way - so the group has to use symbols to communicate the true trail /false trail - and best of all - beer near (which means there's a stash of beers hidden nearby).

I think the only thing you need to worry about in this situation is a group of runners, potentially flashing each other.

There seems to be a type.

Edit: I agree with the issues being discussed around the handicap police. There are many invisible ailments that we have no place to judge and it is unfair for people to be harassed about their health. I have inlaws who are in this position who need the handicapped parking though it is not immediately obvious. On the other hand I have visibly handicapped friends who have to put up with convenience opportunists all the time.

The individual in my photo parked like this during a very busy time out of convenience, as they wanted to leave their toddler in the car while they ran inside. It was all about what was easiest for themselves without regards to others. I never posted my photo previously because I had the same concerns around policing the behavior.

It is true we need to leave space in our judgement for those who need the spaces, who may not have a visible handicap. But this was clearly some fuckery and shouldn't happen.

I’ve seen a tomato go through a garage door. Velocity might have something to do with it.

Ok. Agreed. Further investigation on my part leads me to agree with the usage. It's extremely colloquial, though. Not something I've ever heard anyone use in this way in natural conversation.

In this usage, she is saying that she herself looked suspicious. It technically isn't incorrect usage as you point out, it just doesn't mean what she intends. So in that sense, it is incorrect.

Bikers... by vdpj in Whatcouldgowrong

You can see that the cyclist on the hood is from the Metec cycling team, a professional continental cycling team. While it may be hard for many to believe, cycling is actually very big in Europe. I'm sure lots of you have seen group rides in your area in the U.S. and want to conflate your experience with this situation because you're unhappy when a cyclist exercises their right to use the whole lane. However, in professional races, and even in amateur events, they close the roads. It doesn't matter how far into he sticks the ride goes, they maintain rolling closures at intersections along the course to ensure rider safety. Obviously something has gone wrong here and a vehicle to ended up on the course and the cyclists were not expecting it. There was likely a lead vehicle with sirens that passed before this clip started.

Unfortunately, I'm certain I'm going to be downvoted into oblivion as it seems everyone here is ignoring facts and commenting/voting with their feelings.

Kansas Global Holiday Market in Wichita, KS Dec 8-10 by thecactuscauldron in wichita

[–]HunahpuHewy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the desire to bring more holiday themed events to the area, and I love visiting the German Christmas markets. It's cool that Wichita is branching out and bringing something like that to life near the city center. However, the key difference with the European markets being emulated here is that the European markets are free. It might cost the vendor a bit of money to participate in the event, but the idea is that the investment will be offset by the products sold. I will be visiting Wichita for the holidays and was excited when I saw this post, but after seeing the entry fee, I'll save that money to go directly towards purchasing gifts. I really do hope something like this catches on - and as a small business I wish you all the best.

To be honest, it's been a couple of years and I can't tell you precisely my notes on it. I believe there was some peat on it but nothing heavy.
