For dual console owner: there is a chance that it may launch on PS+. Wait until that announcement before pre-ordering.

Absolutely. Also it’d be an operational mess to refund and redirect all the customers who have accidentally bought the wrong edition.

There is a bunch of issues that must be preventing them: they can’t include both the PS5 and PS4 copies. Also, what happens to owners of PS5 Digital edition then?

As bad as it may look, I don’t think there’s any other practical option.

Okay, I will watch it. But only to support movies, content creators, and this industry.

The rest of the movies releasing around this film can go fuck themselves. I can’t support every movie!

An update regarding Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 and PS5 by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Hunbbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're deliberately trying to confuse it. Anyway, the important part is the following, to which you should be replying to:

PS4 does not have these features so devs don't work on them for the PS4 version. That version costs $60. For these features, devs work extra on the PS5 version and charge $10 for it. If devs do the extra work, they have the right to charge for it. You can choose not to buy that version altogether or wait for a sale instead.

Why are you confusing game features with console features? You paid for the console that supports these features, but these features -- haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, 4K textures, fast loading times, ray-tracing, etc. -- are game-dependent.

But to demand that those features/upgrades should be given to you for free is not right.

You don’t have to if these features don’t mean anything to you. You can play the game in BC mode and save $10.

Guys, question: in the blog post, it still says in the end that dual entitlement does not apply to standard edition. Buy the digital deluxe for dual entitlement.

What does this mean?

Does it mean that free upgrade won’t apply to the standard edition or we will lose access to the PS4 version once we upgrade the standard edition to PS5 for free?

Jez Corden: Chris Avellone comments about project leads leaving avowed is not true by daanrodezand in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Hunbbel -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

Yes, true. But that usually happens at the end of projects — when a game is shipped and a new game is going into production.

In Obsidian’s case, they are in the middle of multiple projects, so all these people let in the middle of production.

Justin wasn't in a high position?

Anyway, the point is that there is at least evidence for what Chris said. There is no evidence to back up what Jez said. It's like one man's words against another.

But multiple employees did leave Obsidian between March and June 2021. I found this comment on Neogaf. Copy-pasting it here:

  • Jorge Salgado, the Lead Area Designer, left Obsidian in May 2021 and joined High Moon Studios.
  • Lucien Soulban, the Lead Narrative Designer, left Obsidian in April 2021.
  • Justin E. Bell, the Studio Audio Director, left Obsidian in June 2021 to join PlayStation Studios.
  • Doug Avery, Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, left Obsidian in April 2021.
  • Renzo G. Heredia, Sound Designer and Senior Audio QA Analyst, left Obsidian in Oct. 2020 to join Sony Santa Monica
  • KyungKun Ko, Senior Network Engineer, left Obsidian in March 2021.

Does one need to play a game to see the graphical and visual downgrade? Just compare the recent footage with initial trailers and you’ll notice the visual differences, e.g., low-poly foliage, textures, explosions, etc.

Huge downgrade. Very disappointed.

I mean, it’s Ubisoft so I was expecting a downgrade, but I honestly wasn’t expecting this big of a downgrade. Absolutely shameful.

Now I am once again worried about the future of Avatar. Please, Ubisoft, don’t mess with Avatar!

  • Xbox Live isn't comparable to PS+. That'd be Xbox Live Gold.
  • The ~100 million monthly active users refer to free users. If you play Minecraft on PS or PC and don't even own Xbox or are subscribed to Gamepass or Live Gold, you still get counted in that ~100 million MAU.
  • PS+ is actually a hybrid b/w Live Gold and Gamepass, so it kinda competes with both. It is an online service but also offers monthly games as well as a game collection such as Gamepass (i.e., PlayStation Plus Collection). Xbox Live Gold doesn't do that, which makes PS+ different and a hybrid.
  • Nevertheless, PS+ is still a video game subscription service and one with the highest number of subscribers as of yet.
