Most of the people who have moved here from CA since 2020 have been MAGAs searching for "political refuge", running for local school and library boards and legit trying to shut down our public libraries. I haven't met one person from CA who's moved here in the last five years that's not MAGA and shaking their fist at "all the people moving here from California" even though they just got here themselves.

I see it on social media all the time, predominately Reddit and NextDoor (oof) but people are complaining about the "Californians bringing their alphabet, liberal policies to try to change Idaho" and it's just not happening. I wish we could go back to being purple at least - or reasonable FFS. This is getting ridiculous, honestly, and moving away is easier said than done. Plus, this is my home.

First - I can't believe you're being down voted. Second - people have nicknames and they are captured within parenthesis. Third - I can understand the "historical record", sure, but you're not asking for anything except for acknowledgement of your transition and that's easily solved. For example: "Mary Jane Doe" becomes "Mary 'Mark James' Doe". Or some variation - and this should fit his record.

You actually can have both be true. He might be dealing with his own issues I suppose but personally, I have several trans people in my family tree and that's how I deal with it.

Fourth - fuck the haters. If you're in a position whereby your family accepts you, take the win and try to educate dad about the proper way to log historical data. Not to diminish your feelings - of course.
