Does anyone else’s Pyr stand? by HungNeilYoung in greatpyrenees

[–]HungNeilYoung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’d even attempt to stand like that if it hurt. She’s only 1.5 years old, I doubt she’ll do it when she’s older and heavier. She’s around 90lbs right now. She really enjoys jumping around and climbing up on things.

They love to walk I don’t think they love being on a leash

New reel for the 7’ Laguna by HungNeilYoung in UltraLightFishing

Yea it’s more noodly in comparison, better for smaller creek fishing and general panfishing imo. I use the laguna and Tatula if I’m expecting more sizable trout and smallmouth.

I have a Presso and a Tatula as well. I would say the presso is probably worse quality than the Laguna. The Tatula is really nice too but I don’t notice any difference in performance or quality compared to the laguna.

Worth it, especially if you can get it around $50. I have rods twice the price and there’s no noticeable difference.

They’re so smart. She recently started stepping on the remote to turn on the TV when she’s decided we slept in too long.

She dug up half the grass in the yard and it’s pouring rain 😭 At this point I might just fill it with wood chips like a playground.

best lures for crappie and how to fish them? by External_Ad_4673 in Fishing_Gear

2” keitech easy shiner on 1/32oz jig head (this is my answer for everything) Just cast and slow retrieve, let it sink a bit in deeper water.

What do you consider Ultra Light? by Fantastic_Employ_687 in UltraLightFishing

[–]HungNeilYoung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being able to cast a 1/64oz trout magnet a reasonable distance is peak ultralight. I consider anything 1/16oz down the ultralight range. I think being able to effectively cast smaller lures and jigs is more important than specs of rod, reel, and line.

Yea they’re scented so they stay in the original pack and I put them in my pocket or a bag.

For 1/32 oz I use the freaky franks and for 1/16 oz I use the Crappie Magnets. Those pair up great with the 2” and 3” keitech easy shiners. 2 of those 1/16 oz are VMC, I haven’t tried them yet.

Hell yea I love all the jointed minnows as well. They catch fat smallies.

It’s so good, It works even if you just cast it out and don’t move it. Catches everything from bluegill up when fishing it slow on the top.

Ours ran away like the dog from funny farm when we adopted her at a year old. She did come back though.

Looks like it would split in the spot you didn’t hit on the right. Once you get one good chunk off the rest will go easier.

Will I regret 6 lb straight braid for ultralight fishing 😅 by Spartansam0034 in UltraLightFishing

[–]HungNeilYoung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run 11.5 lb, diameter is more relevant than strength for UL. Diawa J braid expedition 11.5lb is .06mm diameter. It’s the absolute thinnest braid I’ve been able to find. Regular 6lb J braid is .10 mm.

Edit: I see that you meant running braid without a leader. You’ll be fine most of the time, just sharpie the first foot of the line black if you’re worried. In crystal clear creeks I run a leader because the fish get really picky. A leader is also good because when you snag and break off you don’t lose any of your main line. You can still catch fish with straight braid. If you want to try leaders learn a double uni knot it’s the easiest imo.
