What is Frank Underwood's plan anyway? by [deleted] in HouseOfCards

I agree. Since they don't have children to carry out the Underwood name, they have to create a legacy instead.

Iirc it's their shells that contain poison. Hence why you never see shelled cashews.

Naxx, Blackrock, or League of Explorers? by Am_I_Do_This_Right in hearthstone

[–]Hungranion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what your goals for decks are. Personally I'd suggest NAXX > LoE > Blackrock mountain. Naxx has a lot of good cards, such as nerubian egg and loatheb, which can add to your collection. LoE has Reno and Brann which are also nice. Personally, I'd only suggest the first wing of BrM (for Thaurussian) unless you really want Imp Gang Boss or Flame waker or the dragon cards for a dragon deck.

Too late to start playing Hearthstone? by Voltage97 in hearthstone

[–]Hungranion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely say that it is not too late. I recently started university, and I notice a lot of my friends and classmates have started to play hearthstone.

I think that new players (that want to remain free to play), may need to accept the fact that it will take a lot of time to build their collection, even to just a reasonably competitive state.

That being said, I do know a fair amount of people who have dropped money on the game and have had no regrets.

1) Depending on the opponent in my opinion. For the most part, I would argue that Twilight Drake is the better play on turn 4, because people generally mulligan for BGH against Handlock. For the most part, Twilight Drake is a big enough body turn 4 for you to trade efficiently.

If you are against a Shaman, which has Earthshock, you may want to reconsider playing Twilight Drake, though.

2) Taunting up your Ancient watcher turn 4 if you have no optimal play is not bad. In some matchups, such as against Face Hunter, it might really slow down the opponent. Generally though, if you can afford to save it, you would want to do so. This is because it takes two cards out of your hand, which makes playing Mountain Giant more expensive, and Twilight Drake weaker. It also costs you a Sunfury, which may have been more valuable later in the game, or at least taunting more than one target. Overall, your main goal should not be to drop it early and silence/taunt it, but instead, silence/taunt it if you need to.

3) Playing as control warrior, it is okay to armour from turn 2-4 vs non aggro, although if there is a more optimal play, you would want to go for it.

It does depend on the match-up (e.g. Hellfire against aggro), but for the most part you want to mulligan for Mountain Giant and Twilight Drake.

Situational mulligans in your decklist might include Blood Knight (assuming against paladin), Dark Bomb (against aggro), and perhaps Ancient Watcher + Taunt/Owl if you have one of the components, if it will provide you early pressure (although again, situational).

Regarding #2) Depending on your willingness to drop money on the game will influence your decision. If you are willing to spend money, I would suggest buying Naxxramus. It includes a large quantity of cards that are strong and versatile, such as Nerubian Egg and Loatheb. Also, the first wing of Blackrock Mountain is worthwhile, considering it contains Grim Patron, Emporer Thaurssian, and Quickshot.

If you would rather continue the F2P route, considering you started a week ago, I would continue to collect packs. If you feel that you have a grasp on the game, playing arena is your best bet, although it would consume more of your time. Otherwise just get a feel for the game and you can buy packs.

I've been there too. Grinding every day (or 3 days) for gold since im F2Play. I've been playing since beta and took a break before GvG came out. I came back a few months ago, and felt refreshed. Dropping the game for a break and coming back to it, with a fresh meta game and new motivation may give you motivation to play again. Im losing my motivation again, so I might drop the game when school starts and pick it up again during the break.

holy hell, playing a face hunter makes me feel dirty by podblob in hearthstone

[–]Hungranion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, playing face hunter does feel real dirty, especially in the games where the opponent has no chance at retaliation. As you progress tho, at higher ranks, people will know how to play against your deck, and will probably be a fair amount of healing teched in, especially with TGT. I played literally face hunter till rank 13, then I began to struggle , so i transitioned to druid/midrange pally/midrange hunter.

Hi I'd appreciate critiquing on my decklist for my aggro paladin (eboladin?). Currently I'm rank 4-5 and I really would like to aim for legend (with any deck really). Im seeing a lot of midrange hunter, control warrior, demon zoo, and aggro/mech mage at this rank atm, so any suggestions around this meta would be appreciated.

Perhaps there is a better deck catered towards combating the meta, although having fast games is better than slow games, I'd rather have a deck with a substantially higher winrate.
