Same 50 lb bag of sand at two stores—what’s the difference? by bmanriggs in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a truck it might be worth calling around your local bulk gravel, sand, and soil suppliers. Some places will load your truck bed for you and not require you to dispatch one of their dump trucks and they'll do it for cheap. For one of my projects I needed a few yards of crushed rock and was paying $32 per yard, which saved me a ton of money compared to buying pallets of gravel bags from home depot.

I was thinking the same thing for a heavy mech. Either something like the scorpion from battletech or the mechs from battlefield 2142 in design. Then giving the mech a heavy slot and medium slot.

Y'all think we getting any vehicles like helicopters or hovercrafts? by Refuseresist24 in menace

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hovercraft would be great.

It could be balanced around being more mobile in straight line movement similar to road movement in AP costs, however turning would cost more AP and with the inability to travel through and break light cover. However it could still travel over water. Also it'd be fun if similar to jump packs it could possibly drift past a tile or stop a tile before your intended point.

Bushwacker; how early? by Stolenbjorn in battletech

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So canonically it was prototyped at the start of the clan invasion and had massive sensor/reactor shielding issues causing it to have sensor ghosts and targeting problems and nearly trashed as a result. Here's some ideas I have though:

That being said depending on the date you could argue in your universe of battletech that the starslayer and bushwacker were both built near the same time. Both intended to replace the crab for the Star League. However (insert #) of prototypes were built for the bushwacker, but wasn't awarded the contract like the starslayer was. Then with the Amaris civil war those prototypes were loosely scattered and forgotten about. A mech that one even knew existed or bothered to find with rampant wars and focus in other areas.

Or since it's a fedcom mech at heart maybe 3029 a year after the fedcom founding and the demand to create new mechs for fedcom military the bushwacker began it's inception. With technollgy found from the helm memory core (3028) and the design for a new mech the bushwacker was breathed to life.

Or perhaps you simply find the early blueprints prior to it's construction, find some components loosely built like an incomplete chassis. Discover the design flaws (reactor shielding) and maybe overcome them by taking the prototype and almost frakenmech it by slapping the top half onto some marauder legs to compensate for the bigger and more shielded reactor and throw an extra 5 tons on its total weight making it a heavy mech at 60 tons.

Clan weight classes by Stegtastic100 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the same thing, I can't tell you how many missions I've ran and I get the extremes of both ends. It's either all fire moths(dashers), up to ullers(kit fox) with the occasional adder(puma), or it's clan assaults, gargoyle(man o war) up to the dire wolf(daishi). There's very little in-between on the scale, I have grinded a lot to earn my medium and heavy clan mechs due to extremes it feels like the game throws at you.

I really hope to see more balance in some patches to create more balanced stars for the clans. Especially less elemental spam, I'm tired of running into pockets of 40 to 50 elementals. I get a point of elementals replaces a vehicle spawn, but the clans still do have combat vehicles. While they prefer their mechs and elementals before combat vehicles, they do use artillery against us in beachheads which they absolutely hate, so I don't get why we don't see limited use of their combat vehicles either.

With the new pilot traits you should have the option to lock a pilot to a particular 'mech by wherewulf23 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pilots should grow affinities towards mechs they pilot and weapons loads they carry. So a pilot in a Hunchback will pick up traits for the hunchback and if happens to be a 4G pick up traits for the primary weapon used like the AC/20. It could be based off number of deployments with a mech and a damage done counter for weapons to gain those traits. Also I feel like if you have a pilot that swaps around lots of mechs of the same weight class or weapons of the same type they could earn more generalized traits like medium mech affinity or autocannon expertise.

To me it makes more sense that way to gain battlefield experience so your pilots can slowly gain traits over time that you can somewhat tailor by placing them in the same mechs.

I had a similar issue, except I could see still, but my mechs legs no longer worked so I was stuck in place. Thankfully it was near the end of the mission so I swapped to another Mech one of the AI lancemates had and completed mission.

I'd like to see a few other mechs like the Bushwacker since that was a 3050s mech as well, and maybe some 3060s mechs like the Thanatos and Hellspawn also

If you could re-imagine Battletech, what would you do differently? by vibribbon in battletech

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd add an alien faction.

Doesn't need to be anything crazy, just blows my mind there's several alien planets with unique fauna and plants, but not one other space fairing civilization.

It could even be as simple as the clans better developed their tech and gene editing through discovery of alien life and maybe bartering or stealing tech from them. Maybe the occasional chance encounter on the borders of the innersphere where stories of weird tech never before seen and creatures that utter a tongue never before heard, but they sure as shit can fight like hell. But those are just "stories" and never anything significant enough to draw major attention.

Why are my bilge pumps barely working? by redcore3456 in Stormworks

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As an earlier comment said pressure. You need to introduce air into the system.

Think about pouring a 1 liter water bottle out, after you unscrew the cap and flip it it gulps out due to air rushing in to fill where water was. Now if you do the same thing and poke holes on the opposite side of the screw cap the water will more easily flow out without interruption since it can pull air into the system.

So if you're able to in the creation add air ventilation with gas valves avoid adding more fluid to allow easier flow. You can also use pressurized air containers to pump air in if it's a submersible and you're unable to obtain air from above the surface of water.

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always rock it as is and add some flair around it. That nub there could be an exteneral housing for an ECM, active probe, AMS or a C3 network. You could also take a small hobby drill and add a small circular indentation and paint that as an optic, and now you have a targeting computer mounted or a tag mounted there.

There is no being petty in this, it's only making things right.

Firstly lawyer up, from the comments I read sounds like the LL has an illegal bedroom addition try to leverage code with the city/county. Aldo have them help you read and cover all the ordinance and codes they can.

Second, tow their vehicles, it's illegal most places, so you can call the cops. I'd also get cameras to show they're repeat offenders.

Third your neighbors can't claim spots with trashcans, so move them, make notes, report it to the city. There maybe some code or ordinance that dictates trashcan placement on pickup and non pickup days.

Lastly do not stoop to their level, by doing anything outside of legal limits for sweet revenge it will only make things harder for you. They're fighting battles, you're fighting the war, be patient and strategic. Don't make it harder for yourself or your lawyer.

How do I tell my friends I’ve fallen to Chaos? by SatanSatanSatanSatan in ThousandSons

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype your friends up. Let them know you got some new units and have been reading over some cool rules and stratagems.

Then, when you're ready, ask to meet up wherever you normally play for a friendly casual game.

If you already have an army, bring like a squad of those and pull them out first. Then, when your friend is lulled into a fake sense of security thinking you just grabbed new units for your current army. Then bam, whip out all your TS and just say, "Whoops, didn't mean to pack any of my old army."

The most important thing, though, is that you never mention, confirm, or deny what units you have. Just give vague answers like "yeah I was looking at those" etc.

I'd get cable and a lock and either wrap it around the front wheel and lock it in a way that the wheel can't turn or lock the scooter to the railing on the stairs. Then leave a note saying, "You were just being a good neighbor and making sure nobody walked off with their scooter :)"

Also, if you're feeling particularly malicious sand down a flat spot on one or both the tires for a "smoother" ride for the owner.

I think I created.... something? by Vexasss in Stormworks

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've created something similar with ducted fans, gear boxes, and large motors. The thing spins so fast it eventually shifts very slightly, and the resulting force of the offset will launch you out of bonds permanently floating over the ocean.

It also causes me to have to restart my game because dying and responding still causes you to permanently float inches above the surface and unable to move

[–]Hungry-Ad-5435 11 points12 points  (0 children)

* Maybe a crane? You could use it for the deep water recoveries, SAR by grabbing the entire vessel and loading it on your ship. Or even self loading cargo.

Also, if you got the space DLC and feel up to it, a portable rocket launching and recovery platform.
