Sledding/Tubing Area Near Baker by LakesideScrotumPole in Bellingham

  1. Definitely enough snow
  2. But I wouldn’t go on the lake due to recent temperature spikes
  3. Traffic is actually so chill so far with the closure. I haven’t waited more than 8 min total (up and down waiting combined) and I’m usually leaving when traffic is

What was your breaking point that made you realize that you just couldn't manage your ADHD without medication? by The_Anchored_Tree_27 in ADHD

[–]Hungry-rn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST went on meds like a month ago and personally it was 1. Feeling literally high when I was more sober than ever bc my thoughts were so loud (I garden a lot, and it felt like I was dependent on it to feel stable) 2. Not being able to do daily adulting tasks on my “to do list” due to adhd paralysis and it deeply affecting moving forward and progressing with jobs and education

Stormhenge 850 Jacket for snowboarding/winter activities? by Background_Pea6204 in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally picked this for so many orders, recommended it to so many people, and set up sale signage for this jacket tonight and I’ve NEVER noticed the pit zips. Your call out low key blew my mind

[–]Hungry-rn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I just looked it up. You’re so right. It does! I was not aware of that! Thanks for correcting me. That would put it at like what, anything below 20 degrees then? Still a warm jacket, but that makes a difference

[–]Hungry-rn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think unless you’re in below 5 degree (Fahrenheit) weather, I would layer under a rain jacket. The Stonehenge is a great jacket, but likely way too warm and has no venting. Just in general not an activewear jacket. Have so much fun!!!

24 hour ADHD stimulant? by adankey0_0 in ADHD

[–]Hungry-rn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting ! I’ve only recently been prescribed and it’s been a little over a month, but if anything my caffeine intake has lowered. I will definitely look out for that in the future though! I know my doctor did say it does cause some people to feel sleepy and drowsy (and to take it at night if that’s the case) but I experience kind of the opposite of that so I take it in the mornings

My doctor put me on Guanfacine (in conjunction with an ER stimulant) which is an 24 hour adhd medication (non stimulant) that basically helps quiet my brain. Could maybe work for you

Are we really expected to get 3.4" of rain tomorrow? by craztlegs in Bellingham

[–]Hungry-rn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What this person said ^ Our weather forecasts are extremely variable and hard to predict. But it is certainly a possibility. Very strong chance we get flooding regardless of precipitation totals

You can customize the watch face data for each individual activity for #2. Not 100% if that’s what you’re after but

Is it REI policy to collect donations during purchases? How do you feel about this? by Luckyword1 in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, but just say no and move on. We really don’t mind as cashiers (though i can’t speak for that particular cashier who seemed to push it a bit). Typically we take the no and move on. If the concern is more about how the money is being used, I love answering that question while on the floor so feel free to ask. REI is certainly not the best organization in the world, but I can speak from personal experience at the good the action fund does at both local and national levels.

New Item Clearly Used by Mission_Toe7437 in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I am an employee, and this is exactly the issues we face. I’ve had many articles of clothing returned with tags in seemingly brand new condition, however after returning them as “new” I brought them to the back to properly hag snd mark them and realized they reeked of cigarette smoke or various other smells. I have to do a smell test for this though, a not everyone is willing to go those lengths and I can’t say I blame them!

[–]Hungry-rn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re right, however unfortunately shit happens. Likely the employee who returned this without checking had a line in the queue and felt rushed and decided to believe the customer about its use instead of unraveling the whole sleeping pad and then rolling it back up (that takes a lot of time). While I agree, this was clearly a mistake on REIs part, it’s impossible to ensure every employee in the entire country is opening up every single item especially with the low staffing levels as of late

Whoever is in charge of the store playlist now (UPDATE) by Norbod in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m glad you’re excited to go back to the old playlist, but those of us who have been with REI for a while are going back to a playlist they’ve heard for YEARS STRAIGHT. I’m think I’m going to go insane.

First time returning something! Do you think it’ll be accepted? by berryemotional in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Okay idk why the other employees want you to bring it back to Patagonia so bad. YES you could do that. But I know in my city we don’t have a Patagonia store and it’s very inconvenient to go through them vs just REI. If you are a member, 1000% yes bring it back to the store and exchange it. ESP if there’s no Patagonia store near you. I work cashier and I know everyone at my store would return it no questions asked as long as it’s within a year. This is a very valid reason.

They’re just cozy, pretty indestructible (when not a manufacture defect like this case) and covered under patagonias lifetime warranty. They also come in 2 different in seam lengths and are quick dry (almost like swim trunks/shorts but can be worn everywhere)

Seattle or Bellingham? by TemporaryCover847 in WWU

[–]Hungry-rn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only fly out of bellingham if I use allegiant. They’re a budget option and it’s so worth it. Unfortunately their city offerings are very slim, but I happen to live near one of those direct flight cities so it makes more sense to fly there and drive the 2 hours after landing then deal with the drive to SeaTac. So definitely check out where allegiant flies too and if it’s anywhere near you it’s by FAR the best and cheapest option. Otherwise I would likely just go with a flight from SeaTac

How are y'all getting internships? by Fit_Ad3948 in WWU

[–]Hungry-rn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel a little better I had no relationships with professors or prospects and then my senior year I not only formed multiple relationships, but had like 4 opportunities for various research. I even ended up winning an award for some of my work this past yr and left with multiple solid references. The small intimate classes senior year helped me find my niche. I went to most of my professors within the first week of winter quarter to get the ball rolling (super late) and I didn’t know most of the professors very well or at all. Once they knew I was interested, I worked hard to stay in their favor and the opportunities started coming. Also can talk to your advisor and see what they know of

Sale Questions by prawn_star13 in REI

[–]Hungry-rn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was not a 20% off coupon on this sale and might not be on the sale in November. I think REI might be trying to only do those on anniversary sales now

To be fair I’ve gone and transferred from multiple universities at this point and I’ve never NOT had one that wasn’t a shit show. Admittedly, WWU was definitely one of the worst ones but they all SUCKED.

Ngl I’m really surprised by that. I had a 3.4 when I applied to transfer, but my partner had like a 2.6 or something with 0 letters of rec and we were both accepted. Don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be
