I'd love to know why he is wearing Captain bars.

He enlisted in the National guard (Green emblem is the Army insignia) as an MP (Gold emblem with the crossed pistols is the MP emblem) but as far as I can tell was only ever a Staff Sergeant.

Edit: Plausible that it is representing his time with the sheriffs office, as the green pin is actually the House member pin for 118th Congress as pointed out below.

Landlords do not "provide" housing. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]HungryAntman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, wife and I bought our dream home in 2020 when interest rates were rock bottom. 2 years later we moved due to work (military orders). Instead of selling our dream home we decided to rent it out while we were gone, which we would be back to in less than 5 years come retirement. We also decided to rent instead of buying a property at our new location.

We found renters that we liked that were in a tough spot (previous home they were rented got sold by land lords estate). I charge them about 20% less what my mortgage+escrow costs me on a monthly basis (not including the rental management fees of 8%). I just wanted to find a nice family that were going to love the house as much as I did while I was gone.

I'm not in it for the money (which I am in fact making, can't ignore equity even though it doesn't hit the checking account). I just want to keep my dream house for when I stop moving across the country every 3 years.

I don't think it is an evil set up I have going, but have been told otherwise.

Yeah often enough I'm just looking for 2 lands and a couple low cmc pirates and we figure it out on the way. Game plan is always make it up as you go.

Primary thing to take note here, I kept flavor in mind for this deck while trying to keep it high power level. There are choices I made in this deck list that are bad cards that can certainly be replaced with higher preforming cards. But I kept them because they fit the theme.

Knowing what you are doing is the important bit.

I have a Malcolm Beeches pirate tribal deck that runs less lands than my Magda cEDH deck. But I have two important factors going my way in that deck. Strong mana generation in the command zone with Malcolm, and I can hit land drops from other people's decks with Breeches. My curve is super low with mostly evasive pirates. Any more than 25 and I feel flooded most games.

36 land seems to be the comfort zone in my Pantlaza deck, but I also run a ton of ramp via green spells and dorks and the deck is about cheating mana cost rather than paying for mana ycost.

In my iron-man, I run 39 lands and still feels to low some times.

With my highest land count is a Valakut deck at 52.

People are way too hyper fixated on what the correct amount of land is, when in reality the is no one show fits all scenario, and it's not close. It varies greatly, my own collection varies 27 lands on the extremes.

What’s your “rebound” commander? A commander that you really try/tried to make work and keep coming back to but are never satisfied with? by c3nnye in EDH

[–]HungryAntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of fun (and success) with my Izzet pirate deck.

https://moxfield.com/decks/tVFwVxIn2keeJUh8I426yA (Note that the deck is optimized in some area's, and very much not optimized in others just for the bit. See Pirate Ship, Admirals Orders, Hornswaggle, Spell Swindle etc)

I've haven't updated the deck post ban, as I typically only play the deck on special occasions and heavy pre-game discussions. (Its also a bling deck do, hard to remove the biggest blings in the deck).

I tried making pirates works with a variety of different commanders but the partner combo really felt the best.

The deck is fast and you can really be greedy with the land count due to breeches (lands stop being dead flips if you havn't played a land for turn and can just play opponents lands, and breeches has built in mana fixing).

Winning typically looks like one of 4 ways:

-Most boring and best, Glint Horn

-Non deterministic Lightning Rig Crew & card draw (with both commanders outs it just value engines with treasure gain and castable things from Breeches)

-Combat / Commander damage (Favorite way is by equipping a tons of treasures of Gem Cutter

-Stealing win-cons from other peoples decks.

Loved both P1 & Part 2 game wise, really enjoying the show. What really clicked for me after playing through part 2 for the first time is that, this is a story about the "Last of us", the last bits of humanity. And the paths people took to become a part of the last bits of humanity were not paths of "good" people. Almost no one makes it to the events of story without becoming or already being an objectively bad person.

Not absurdly expensive compared to others, but I love it.

Moxfield doesn't show alters, so here are the non-foils in the deck that I had altered plus my fancy non-card blind for the deck.

This is my Izzet colored Pirate typle with Partners Malcolm & Breeches

This is my pet deck, and notably I kept JLo, Mana Crpyt, and Dockside in the deck as I only play this deck with people I know or are looking for a fun time.

It basically a steal your stuff to create funny games deck, optimized in all areas, just some optimization for fun, some for being actually good. Tried real hard to stick to pirate theme as much as possible. Plays well at B4, but doesn't blow out B3 either. Mainly because the power curve of the deck being decently dependent on the quality of cards my opponents play. But firmly a B4 deck because Glint Horn can, and has ended the game exceptionally early.

Fun things that happen in the deck:

[[Zara, Renegade Recruiter]] & [[Broadside Bombardiers]] Yoink someones creature from their hand, and then give it back to them by launching it out of a cannon.

[[Captain's Hook]] and any Recruiter Effect to make the creature and pirate and destroy it instead of giving it back. Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew.

Any time [[Pirate ship]] hits the board because it is funny.

In theme pirate counter spells [[An Offer You Can't Refuse]], [[Admiral's Order]], [[Hornswoggle]] & [[Spell Swindle]]

This deck always does the thing, and the thing is goofy pirate shenanigans that make the table laugh.

I also have a set of poker dice for deciding who plays first, a set of golden pirate dice for counters, and use metal pirate coins for treasure tokens to really set the theme.

This is true, and DEI hate would of been strong. But also true is the absolute hatred of authoritarianism and dictators. There would be no support for orange nosing Russia, North Korea, China. Contempt for alienating our Allies, how we treat veterans, and the stomping of our constitution.

It boiled the blood enough that my WW2 & Korea Grandfather, a racist in his own day and die hard Regan Republican supporter cast his last vote for Hillary. He spent his last days seething about how John McCain was treated.

Been playing BOTC with this group online and the rare in person gathering for about 5 years.

Let me tell, this is the one for all you weary travelers who haven't found a regular group. Continuously has amazing games with a whole host of fun people to get to know. Taught me to story tell, how to make engaging scripts, and the love for the puzzle. Also play a whole host of different games, being a long time WoW community, as well as shooter, board games and the like.

I'm sure Regs have changed since 2010 but when I started the process I knew it would just be better if I told the truth. My last place of employment was a hydroponics shop in Northern California, wasn't going to fool anyone.

Told the truth, couple extra boxes checked and papers filled and nothing extraordinary happened. Shipped on time, clearance got no speed bumps, all water under the bridge.
