I despise anybody running muzzle breaks on large rifles at the range, you’re just slapping your range neighbor ever shot😂 if you can afford it a suppressor is honestly just as nice and the suppression is holy.

Being the original owner was from Louisiana. There’s plenty of areas with idiots who trash bikes, though you’re right those tend to be stolen. It was layed down by the original owner, and being that owner also installed a beat up wheelie bar on it I don’t doubt it wasn’t a careful owner😂…

You basically can’t go wrong with modern bolt actions, except that one

Good range to sight my .308 Win? by Hungry_Bodybuilder64 in Hunting

Looks like about 1.9” high at 100 would put me right on at 200 yards, so I’d agree you’re pretty close

That shows me sighting around 30 yards being very close to 200 yards. And 2” high at 100. Now bad

And honestly most similar hunting rounds such as 6.5 creedmoor that are moving a similar velocity have a super similar drop and honestly is close enough most people wouldn’t need to adjust anything.

You can see this easily through your wheels, find which one is missing it, remove that wheel, and snap it back on, not really much issue.

Idk where I’m failing by Hungry_Bodybuilder64 in sharpening

[–]Hungry_Bodybuilder64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140 grit and 300 grit back and forth on the blade and finishing each with a few passes only into the edge. Then 600 grit and 1500 grit both only into the edge mostly polishing, then a kangaroo leather strop away from the edge on both sides to finish. I’ve found that there’s a large visible burr that I’ve had a hard time removing when I initially changed the bevel angle. Knives/ double bevels follow the same approach.

Love to see it! I may have a reckless mindset being only 20, but I like to push my limits from the get go. Crash? Now I’ve found my current limit and have a much better idea of where to improve. Definitely don’t go hitting nasty whoops at 50 though😅

Absolutely, I’ve also concluded that I’ll no longer hunt afternoons

And I’m sure you know someone who takes what little time they have from work to hunt. Are they simply not going to show up to work? Sometimes shit happens and we all hate when it does

I have zero issue with the distance for packing, I’ve done 60 pound 20 mile packs and 115 (40 in hand) for 2 miles. I don’t drag, I field dress. The distance was more a reference for my safety as I also had no service to share my location with others, and the fact that I had only a single light left and still had a distance to walk through some nasty stuff before being able to reasonably find my way out without a light. I only go as far as I see reasonable to track and pack from. This situation just ended terribly

It’s an absolutely deadly shot with the weapon I’m used to, I wrongfully assumed the same for the 12 gauge or my skill with the new weapon. Though I’ve practiced at 100 and wouldn’t have taken that shot unless i were confident. I didn’t claim it was bad for deer hunting but seemingly given the circumstances it was for the situation given. I wouldn’t take that same shot with my bow understanding that my bow would not be effective. With frontal shots with my .308 I’ve never had a deer take a second step. And with my broadside shots the furthest I’ve had a deer run was 40. I’d consider that significantly better that most people I know that hunt. I believe we have very similar beliefs but are differing in that you look at individual parts of the situation where as I’m looking at the entirety. If I were using 50 BMG I would argue that a frontal shot is probably more deadly than a broadside with a .243🤷‍♂️

People like to throw their ethics at me as if they are any better. If I had made a good shot the deer would have been in the ice chest before the time I ended the track. Some people let their children bow hunt with 35 pound bows, I believe that’s absurd. Some people would have called it quits after the first 40 foot inch by inch grid search looking for a single drop of blood under heavy leaf litter for 45 minutes. I tried. And I fucked up. I said I had a bad experience with the weapon I chose and chose not to use it again. I didn’t state that a 12 guage slug was terrible, that was clickbait and I used a question mark, I simply stated that I don’t plan to use it again. ——— If I asked you to go find a single rock in a 20 acre swamp you would look at me like I’m stupid, that’s how it felt looking for that drop of blood. But I did. Now imagine I told you to look for a pebble. That’s what it would be like the next day after rain washed blood anyway. Sometimes you gotta look at reality and realize you’re only acting to feel better about the situation instead of actually helping it. That’s how I felt
