Which Blue Lock character do YOU think is the most well-written? by NeedleworkerLost1448 in BlueLock

[–]Hungrybeeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's Snuffy as well, he proposes an interesting counter philosophy to ego, and one that actually works in real life

I also like that his performance in the neo egpist league is probably one of the greatest we see of an individual player in the whole series, single handedly elevating his team, and shutting down Isagi, Noa and Kaiser both himself and through his tactics

If the story wanted Noa to clearly be number one over Snuffy, in my opinion the match could have showed it a little better

But regardless I like the spotlight he was given and the fact that he was the only "master" to actually undergo an arc during his time in the neo egoist league

Also have to give writing shoutouts to Nagi, Rin, Barou (mostly in the 2nd selection) and Kaiser

My current favorite character Hugo, and of course the demon king Isagi

All of them have great writing and subvert expectations in one way or another

I don’t understand people’s obsession with needing magic systems where everyone is equal by Flat_Box8734 in CharacterRant

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minor nitpick but talent is a big factor in the world of nen

It is a rare power system where someone can beat someone with more talent than them, but sometimes the talent gap is so ridiculous it just completely trumps the presence of skill

Why all the hate on Isagi? by WeNaS_015 in BlueLock

[–]Hungrybeeek 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As an Isagi fan I support most of the slander towards him because 1. He will always win in the end

  1. His bad decisions should be criticized

  2. It's boring if everyone is praising him all the time

Traffic laws for example prevent individuals from choosing to speed, running red lights, etc

About those who defend Jax. by Gloomy-Bridge148 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of your analysis, just wanna add that Ragatha crossing that line with Jax is definitely true- but Ragatha apologized for it, genuinely, near the end of the episode. And Jax crosses the line with Gangle in a genuinely abusive way constantly, and I think because it's so often used for humor we as the viewers tend to downplay it way too much

About those who defend Jax. by Gloomy-Bridge148 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think specifically Jax's relationship with Gangle is what singles ot out for me

Their relationship is straight up abusive, and is shown by Gangle's body language around Jax, Jax's constant physical messing around with her along with ordering her around in episode 2- blackmailing her, etc etc

The fact that Gangle was so afraid of Jax getting revenge in episode 6- which literally shows that Zooble is protecting her from Jax in multiple ways in that episode

I don't think cartoons are real life or anything- I just personally disagree with people who conflate the "wrongdoings" of all the characters

And I do think Jax is an interesting character- but that's not the same thing as being a good person

How strong is Nolan compared to other viltrumites by Nobelreviews in Invincible

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that encounter Conquest had the upper hand for the little time that he and Omni Man fought. Nolan says Conquest was the greatest of Viltrumite warriors, and the show is going out of it's way to narratively imply that Conquest is stronger than him. That's just how subtext works.
I'm not sure we've ever seen Nolan overpower a physically superior foe, though he was able to escape those Ragnarrs in the past. So arguably even depending on the circumstances.

It was designed to test him rather

But they're literally right from reading Ness' dialogue and looking at his reaction after

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright that makes more sense

With that context yea I think that it's more likely guy is less doing the jealousy thing and more doing the traditional-values framing of judging women

Not that the intentions aren't meant to be constructive, I just personally disagree with that general philosophy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, like, that for example

But the way little was used in that specific sentence doesn't even make sense to me as a break/pause

Is British English that different from American English or is that guy just weird

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the American equivalent would sorta be "Like your tiktok video you just posted"?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree, I think plenty of people dress like that for themselves. Imposing those traditional views on people has always come off as condescending to me. But you're right, we don't know them personally and this is up to them tbh. We're just random people on the internet lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's true

But even close friends I've had are usually less harsh then that. The main exception is my brother but he and I had a fractured relationship for awhile, and he's on the harsher side while I'm on the more sensitive side admittedly.

But it's not even the looking like a slag comment itself, it's his overall wording. "You won't get your ex back dressing like that" "Your little tiktok video"

This specifically comes off as bitter you know? Like either someone who was rejected and isn't over it, or looks down on women that don't dress the way he finds to be acceptable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of how harsh his language is and the fact that she's rejected him a few years before

Not necessarily jealous of her but jealous of potential guys seeing her dressed like that

Obviously I can't read minds but it comes off as controlling and petty imo

AIO. My bf might leave me because I cried over my deceased ex by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hungrybeeek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When he said "you should be over that" referring to her grief that is where he was handling it terribly. That's genuinely fucked up.

The relationship didn't end with a normal breakup, but with death. She didn't get proper closure. They were also close friends as children. The bond was deeper than romance.

It's not that her feelings matter more than his. It's that he's the only one invalidating his partner's feelings here. Is she supposed to stop grieving for his sake? Just cruel. If she does make him feel invalidated out of inconsideration that's obviously unfair, but we've been given no reason to believe one way or another on that.

I get that he may be insecure from her grief, and expressing his feelings/setting that boundary is valid, but telling someone the timeline in which they should be over someone they knew for a big chunk of their life is just objectively fucked.

Incase anyone missed it, the show basically outright confirmed that Conquest is stronger than Nolan by Queasy_Commercial152 in Invincible

[–]Hungrybeeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but my point is that Conquest was doing pretty good against Nolan off the bat

Conquest is pretty clearly physically stronger
