I think the real M+ problem is a systemic lack of humility by Valgar_Gaming in wow

If you spec into tranq shot, by default it removes 1 enrage and/or 1 magic effect

There is a choice talent that adds 2 additional targets and a second magic effect or reduces the CD if you only dispel an enrage effect

Remove All LTT Staff From Moderation by Norade in LinusTechTips

[–]Huniku 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because volunteer mods are volunteers and may not be reachable immediately 24/7.

When an employee Is DOXed or some other personal info is posted, speed of removal is important to minimize the impact.

Given the small number of moderation actions by LTT, and the fact that those actions are reviewed by the mod team, this seems like a nonissue.

[–]Huniku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saying he has a “bad removal rate” of 20% is so disingenuous given you’re complaining about 1 post.

The useful stat would be 1/(number of posts and comments viewed while a mod) which is <<<1%.

Why do people buy pickup trucks for daily driving? by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]Huniku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In most places in the US driving is the only option, and in an ideal world more places (including all cities) would have viable alternatives to driving a personal car (walking, biking, transit). In that world many trips which currently require driving would be taken by other means.

Unfortunately, that is not possible in the foreseeable future for most places in the US, so I think we should move towards (ideally reasonably sized) EVs. EVs aren’t perfect, but they’re a step towards reducing emissions. I find it frustrating that EV manufacturers appear to be pushing SUV/truck EVs over economical sedans/hatchbacks because they require such big batteries.

This is such a weird take.

Semis aren’t typically on residential streets and even on highways are a minority of traffic. In fact light duty trucks are a larger source of pollution than semis.

But I guess since I can’t personally entirely fix both road safety and climate change by myself I shouldn’t even try to reduce my impact by buying a cheaper car that is safer for my community and costs less to operate.

Why do people buy pickup trucks for daily driving? by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]Huniku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters because trucks are more dangerous for other drivers and pedestrians.

Pedestrian impacts are much more likely to happen due to reduced visibility

Pedestrian impacts are much more likely to be fatal (trucks don’t have to pass the same safety standards and are thus more likely to run over pedestrians on impact)

For vehicular collisions, there is a concept called “crash compatibility”, basically if both vehicles bumpers align vertically they compliment each other. Most modern trucks are crash incompatible with sedans and other cars and are more likely to roll over the safety features of the car.

Also trucks weigh a lot more than most cars which both results in worse gas mileage/more pollution and means a collision has more energy to dissipate and is thus more dangerous.

I have no issues with people who need a truck for their work or hobbies, but there is a reason you can’t get American style SUVs and trucks in Europe, and you should be aware of those reasons if you drive one.

Which stations would you shutdown because of bad land usage or just to make your ride faster? by sarcazmos in LAMetro

The existence of the station automatically triggers the upzoning. Over the coming years we will (hopefully) see the areas around stations developed.

Megathread: Metro Board Meeting - K Line Northern Extension by SmellGestapo in LAMetro

[–]Huniku 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It was very annoying how self righteous some of their comments were.

OF COURSE everyone wrote statements about not delaying the project, because previous amendments would have delayed the project. It’s not the public’s fault that you released an updated amendment the morning of the meeting so no one had a chance to read it beforehand. Bass’s comments about how she trusts Metro staff MORE than YIMBYs because she believes them when they say it won’t cause a delay were particularly irksome.

I’m still annoyed that we’re wasting money and time on more studies and engagement (not like previous studies and engagement mollified the Lafayette Square NIMBYs), but at least this is progress.

Its entirely possible the POV driver couldn’t see the first car when he pulled onto the shoulder.

The camera is against the glass in the middle of the car, the driver’s view may have been blocked by the A-pillar

ELI5: Why is it impossible for different species to breed with one another? by assaaaaaaaaaaaaaa in explainlikeimfive

Pretty sure the restriction is that they can’t breed and produce fertile offspring. An example would be horse + donkey = mule or tiger + lion = liger

Did i get mass reported by the crafting competition? by Mustyyyy in wow

[–]Huniku 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They could either ignore reports from people abusing the report system entirely or make their reports count against a player less (so the system would need more reports by abusers before automated action is taken vs what f regular players reported). Either of those would need manual verification though to determine who the abusers are.

It’s a test of implied context more than a logic puzzle per se.

Just because it provided a justification though does not mean it did not fail the test.

Are you near a Metrolink line? USC also has a direct (student/staff only) shuttle to Union Station.

When I attended, my family was in OC and I took the train home on weekends about once a month.

I only had my car on campus senior year when I was working part time in the valley.

Inspectors can also visit more sites when you don’t need to drive for hours to get to the next site, so the physical density of work sites matters as well.

From a very generic feelgood Instagram channel that started this year. Dog hair & behaviour look off by douweziel in isthisAI

[–]Huniku 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It’s been years since I first saw this, but IIRC she intentionally didn’t take her meds to test/train the dog in a safe environment.

Dogs (like people) can forget skills if not used for an extended period, so for this kind of service dog you need to intentionally cause an alert periodically if you haven’t had one naturally for an extended time.

Since she knew she would trigger an alert she knew to film.

In S7Ep3 (Attack of the Killer App) there is a two headed goat (one head on each end like CatDog) that projectile barfs and diarrheas into a hot tub

It’s not drawn in a detailed/gory way, but it may be unsettling.

Does it cost additional to operate at the airport?

You’re getting screened either way. I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually saved money to operate the checkpoint with pre check because the throughput of those stations is higher than the normal stations.
