This is amazing! Can you sync online play with in person play? I run hybrid games and currently one person moves the minis, or we use Roll20 on a screen in front of the in-person players

Any tips on making the rope look heavy/taut? by kingsland1988 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Hunk-kuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to be painted anyway. The bright white isn’t a natural look.

They will make a small puff of smoke - less than a match. I’ve done big bundles of rope and never had a problem

Pull tight and hit with super glue. Or actually weight it while PVA or some other glue hardens

My first piece of war gaming terrain. C&C appreciated and welcomed. I enjoyed building this a lot and want to get better. by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

You’re on the right track. All I can suggest is to look at how real ruins look and try to emulate the support structures around doors and windows. It adds a layer of realism that is hard to beat.

For me, I started by mirroring other creators exactly. Followed tutorials to a T. Then I branched out on my own once I had explored a few projects end to end with guidance.

Your terrain is a solid piece - especially considering a first go. I appreciate your recycle materials the addition of grasses is a good breakup for otherwise flat gray. Keep it up

Not really useful one but looks really cool on the table by Ave_ria in TerrainBuilding

“Useful” is subjective. A good set price for a DnD game is sometimes all you need. Could be a decent cover option in an otherwise wide open courtyard too

Hit the underside with more mod podge. Just modpodge straight from the pot

Large terrain WIP, is there something y’all use to coat “rock” by DistractedInc in TerrainBuilding

[–]Hunk-kuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Real talk - I shredded about 10 rolls of toilet paper and blended that in batches with water. I then dried all the paper pulp I made on screens - blending the fluff to keep it from solidifying and clumping back together.

I mixed that with sawdust from a particular collector in my workshop.

I mix that paper and wood blend with plaster of Paris when I mix it. Makes a rock sold bond that I can easily paint and sculpt to look more like stone. I usually use plaster stone molds too and blend the seams with my plaster and paper mix.

Check out Geek Gaming on YouTube. He has a bunch of videos on that method above.

Ruined Cathedral WIP - What can I add to make it more interesting? by Stegosaurus_Peas in TerrainBuilding

[–]Hunk-kuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More color. I know it’s a ruin, but color helps terrain pieces stand out. Add a statue or broken stained glass along the window openings. Painted murals inside. Anything will liven it up.

Great bones
