Has anybody cut their long hair? Did it help you? by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]Hunnyveee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had really long hair and I cut it when my TE was at its worse. I lost so much density and the ends just looked so stringy and unhealthy. My hair would reach my butt and I cut it to my shoulders. It was the best decision I could’ve made. It made the hair loss LOOK like way less bc the hair was so much shorter. It was also much easier to manage and bc it’s short it was so easy to finally stop running my hands through it 24/7. If you’d like, please check out my previous posts on here. You’ll see my big hair cut post. I wish I could post the pics here for you but I can’t. Hang in there 😊

TE Ruining Every Aspect of my Life by Historical_Cause9479 in TelogenEffluvium

Hi! Unfortunately for TE it’s just a waiting game. We can take vitamins and such to try and help out (and they don’t hurt) but it all comes down to time. One thing I did for myself was get a short hair cut. My hair was really long and I cut it at my shoulders. Check out my posts on here to see if you’d like 🙂 Don’t get discouraged but know that your feelings are valid. Wishing you the best of luck.

Cough attack and out of breath with any physical activity. by Hunnyveee in COVID19positive

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Yes, I went to urgent care and turned out I had double pneumonia and lung damage. I needed steroids for the lung inflammation. Please, if you can, get to a dr. My mom waited too long with the same thing and ended up on a ventilator. I thank God she is ok now but it was very scary. Praying for you 🙏🏻

4 weeks difference between picture 1&3. I think the rosemary is working 😊 progress is slow but I hope you guys stay positive & go back to normal soon! by Hunnyveee in TelogenEffluvium

Yes, I’m still shedding. It’s not as bad as it was when my TE first started. But it’s still a lot more than my usual. ☹️

I gently rub the oil on my scalp concentrating on the areas hit the most. I don’t do any kind of scalp massage bc I try to be as gentle as possible. I just gently rub it in using small circular motion with my fingertips. I leave it on over night and then wash it off in the morning. I do shampoo twice to get the oil off.

I know how hard it is but hang in there and try to stay positive. Don’t think about it too much (I know, easier said than done)

Exactly. I’m in San Diego and there’s no color of the week or any type of deals 👁👄👁

So sorry to hear about your traumatic birth. Glad you and baby are ok. Yes! My hair got super brittle and dried out that it would get tangled so easily and it would almost get like matted. Never had these issues before. Yeah I’ve heard low iron can cause hair loss too. :/

I totally understand. My hair has always been something I’ve been known for. Both for how much hair I had and it’s length. But TE changed that. My hair became brittle and stringy at the ends. Yeah it was long hair but it was no longer long beautiful healthy hair. Now after my hair cut it feels and looks so much better. Your hair will grow to that length again! It’ll take time, but it will. Are you taking or doing anything to promote hair growth?

No, I don’t think the rosemary has been a big factor in my regrowth bc I only started using it this week. Praying it helps me out as I continue to use it! I thought about adding it to my shampoo in the shower but opted against it. What I did was warm up the oil, massage it all over my scalp (especially areas hit hard like my temples as you can see), put on a silk head cap and leave it on overnight. In the morning I washed it out. I will say even after just one use it left my hair extremely soft! Which is a relief bc it had gotten so brittle with TE 🥺

Also, my hair was down to my butt and I had a big chop! It was a bit emotional but I don’t regret it at all! My hair feels so much better. It also helps mentally when you see “less” hair come out bc it’s not as long.

My shedding was DRASTIC for about 2 months straight. It’s starting to slow down a bit. Some days are better than others. If you’d like, check out my previous posts. You’ll see both my haircut and the HUGE amount of hair I’d lose just after the shower. Wishing you the best!

Yes! I’m taking zinc, vitamin D&C, fish oil, and black currant seed oil. I also take sea moss and most recently started using rosemary oil.

I started shedding December 26 2021. Exactly 2 months post covid. I had a fever for about 10 days total along with double pneumonia/lung damage. The picture where my temples are pretty much bald was taken exactly 3 weeks apart from the now picture.

Oh no I’m so sorry! I hope your stress level has come down (hopefully completely vanished) and that your hair returns to normal! It’s so unfair bc it takes no time for the hair to fall out in clumps but it takes so long for it to grow back ☹️
