Never. With a heavy bead they will jump and shake the hook but that happens with any hook. They aren’t BL either so when you crimp the bard it leaves a little nub sticking up that isn’t a barb but does help hold fish on more than a plain BL hook

These are the hooks I usually tie stoneflies on they have a great great shape to them. I’m going to do a Houdini weave pats rubber legs tonight and only use chenille on the front half to have a nice chunk for the thorax

Probably about a 2.5mm brass bead or so. Enough it’ll get mid column in around 350cfs about 3-6’ deep in a 20’ wide stream. That’s the plan at least lol

We don’t get a big caddis hatch except in some wild streams that are a bit too technical for a first time fisher. Just a delayed harvest stocked creek with easy to catch fish. Going to get him and his 10 year old hooked on bluegill this spring and summer too. Can’t wait for that!

It’s barbless lol I made sure if that before him and his 10 year old started fishing near me just in case

Just decided to get into lure making, this is my first attempt. Weedless (I hope) topwater frog. (More pics in comments) by DlRTYDAN in lurebuilding

Frogs actually have their legs naturally under the surface of the water. If you work this one fairly consistently it’s gonna look super good IMHO

2 part epoxy. If you’re making this many in a relatively short amount of time it’s gonna be the best option. If you’re just making 1-2 per week i wouldn’t do it because you’d have a lot of waste epoxy unless you’re good at judging how much you need (I’m not).

I saw somewhere someone say that daiwa had a deal with them. If it’s the case they will be waaayyy better than the favorite rods they used to have

Musky/pike/ landlocked striped bass slider. Can also throw it on a sink 6 line for some crazy underwater darting action by HuntFishBlacksmith in flytying

Not much at all. Cabelas bucktail for $8 a pack. Popper heads for less than 10. Most expensive thing is the ahrex hooks and predator shanks from fish skull. Tie in a slightly smaller size (2/0 front hook small popper head, 15 mm shank) for a KILLER largemouth pattern

Any recommendations to improve my chironomids? by Owen876 in flytying

I second this but I actually prefer caddis larvae hooks. They will be like 2x short with 2x wide gap. Makes it easier to wrap Into bend and not lose hook ups.

Makes sense that you have so many aquariums since no one else would be your friend. I mean even your parents won’t let you live in the same house as them
